    Are you an optimist?

Just lestening to Michael Palin on today radio show.

He describd former colleague John Ckeese as taking grumoy pills wheras he liked to look for good things.

I was not always an optimist but now basically retired from full time cut and thrust and city life like to look for the positive, including here.'

With terminal ill health, taxes, visas family issues all of us encounter challenges it is how we react.

I also recall of few great aphorisms

"A pessimist is someone who lives with an optimist"

or great Cuban poet Marti's saying

"I thought I was poor as I had no shoes, then I saw a man with no feet"

I'm a pessimist too, that way when stuff goes well, I'm pleasantly surprised.

Everything will work out in the end, no matter what happens. Maybe not exactly what I was hoping for, but good enough to make me happy.

I’m also an optimist. Things go wrong and bad things happen constantly my life but I get up every morning with my coffee and sit with my orchids and dog, thinking of how good life has been to me.

^^ The more pessimistic law is Sod's law, which I think is Finagle's law to Americans.

Yes, my optimism is based on expecting the worst and planning accordingly rather than the blind optimism of the foolish.
