90 minutes in Harry's Swift, perhaps.

In 1968 I was racing up and down the Qua Viet river in a plastic ski boat when Martin Luther King was assassinated. Like some here I could care less about where I was when celebrities died but MLK's death was something that had a profound impact on me and my way of thinking.

Prior to then, I had no opinion or exposure to racism in America but after observing the reaction and speaking to my many black shipmates I came to abhore racisim and changed from politically nuetral on the issue to what could only be described, by some, a far left looney.

No 90 minute drive, MM. It’s only 20 minutes to town. At that time, it seemed far away to come out here, now built up all the way.

I was working on UK AWACS sims at the time.

However, I was going to start work for FAA in October based in Minneappolis. I was replacing someone who was about to retire and everything was organised to start. 9/11 meant everything was called off at the last munute. I had already handed in my notice and now had no new job. It's the reason I ended up working in Germany instead of the US.

Wow, do you ever wonder how your life may have been different if you had lived in the US rather than Germany? 9/11 really changed the world and not so much for the better imo.

^ As well as the NATO E3-A AWACS, the UK purchased 7 E3-D aircraft with a GE engine fit. The French also had 4 of this type. Replaced by the E-7 a few years ago.

I've just thought of another couple.

    When Elvis died (not alive)

The outbreak of the First Gulf War (on a very late train and worried that this was gonna be the end of the world)

^^ Think it's in a driving license renewal thread from a few months ago. One minute, I'm not doing much else and it's fookin' roasting outside.

What height is 5 foot 10 inches in cm?5 feet 10 inches is equal to approximately 177.8 centimeters.

    Seems to be.

Is 116/69 blood pressure good or am I at death's door?

    Not alive.

    In primary school.

My much older sister's long-term BF was in the US airforce, stationed in Alcanbury, possibly spelled wrong, as his father and older and brother were, so it was a family tradition. Went in to school late as we watched the announcements or first videos on the news, and the teacher gave me a right bollocking saying it could go on for months and was nothing special. I got a cool gasmask and combats (army trousers) out of it.

Many of us saw the pictures of your motorcycle trip awhile back, runt. You are shorter than a lot of Thais.

    But do push the illusion.

Didn't realise Elvis was so young when he died. Heard it on BBC 1 news and got lectured on the dangers of fast food by my mum.

Busy supporting Tornado sims around the UK. Got booked for speeding on the way to Coningsby.
