The possibility of Hal giving his password to Chitty, and he was doing one of his Chitty Saves TD threads, did cross one's mind.

Though none of the posts appear to have been penned by a mosaic-Down that can't spell 'too' and other three letter words, so, apparently not.

OK if its of great interest to you Army, I was in Longbridge, Birmingham, playing Pro Evolution soccer on the ps2 or 3 it was I think when the news of Princess Di's tunnel smash came in at around 1 or 2am. I think I may have lost 7-1 to my brother before heading home with his lighter and leaving him an unflushed turd in his loo.

JFK, I can't remember, but would have been in Germany somewhere. I thought Elvis' death was bigger news.

I'm too young to remember Bruce Lee's death but my mum and dad were extras in the movie he died filming when stationed in Hong Kong.

Michael Jackson, I'm pretty sure I was in the Corner Bar on soi 22.

Chuckling at Lu and Dil's posts above.

Also listening to youtube tunes with the music I used to listen to in the Manchester council sauna for TEFL peasants like me who can't afford to pay for private gyms.

Fuck, I miss Manchester so much.

But as for the original 3 events, #1 I was at an aunts place happily playing some game with my cousin when it came on the news and my mum and aunt started crying. I of course had no idea of the importance, being only 8 years old.
#2 I was living in Outback Oz, and had driven 150km to do some shopping. Walked into the supermarket and the checkout chick was crying. WTF?
#3 Don't remember, don't care. I do remember that one of the girls at work a few days later was still upset, so we went through all his song titles to show her what a weirdo he was....I mean, who else writes a love story to a rat?

Just googled the year of JFK's death. Thought it was around 73.

I guess that'll explain my memory lapse and the black and white footage

Nobody gives a fuck about America.

    Unless you sing.

Or a subject of conspiracy theories.

    Obviously.

    9/11 at work.

    As I said before.

Lennon - I was in a cab on 5th Avenue NYC
Brel - I was waiting for a class to start at the French business school I was attending. Initially I misheard and thought they were talking about Jacques Borel, a quite famous French businessman, of the time.
I couldn't understand why anyone would care (apart from family & close friends) about his death

In a Bangkok bar. I had flown out of NYC that weekend. I was in the WTC the Friday before

For many years I took the subway to/from the WTC every day. The building I first worked in was opposite the WTC and had to be demolished.
However by the time the planes had struck my company had moved to midtown

I was offshore in the North Sea on a Finnish icebreaker for 9/11. The internet offshore was so slow back then that it was a couple of days before anyone really had any idea of what had happened. I remember having a load of stuff confiscated from my carry-on luggage at Oslo Airport on the way home from that work trip with all the new security measures that were suddenly put in place.

Jon Lennon... I was in the 3rd Year at comp but his death didn't have much affect on me.

The only musician who's death really registered with me was David Bowie a few years ago. I was travelling from Thailand to Egypt (Rawlins was also on the flights) and Bowie's death was all over the news once I arrived at my Cairo hotel room.

Sounds frustrating, misskit. I had to look up where Mae Jo is located. I see it is 90 mins north of Chiang Mai.
I'm sure most people would remember where they were on 9/11 as it was a horrific day and changed life as we know it from that day forward.

Yup, life definitely changed after 9/11 and you are living proof of that. It was a nightmare.. I remember I had to fly through the US customs from Canada to go to Korea not many years after that, and vowed never to fly though the US to go to Asia after that.
