Improving your Thai what do you find useful please?

No not your partner, your language skills
as my vision fades I will become more reliant on listening.
My problem has always been distinguishing tones.I am happy to buy a course pay an online/virtual school etc

My partner drills me, but when giving examples of the difference I cannot distiinguish,I have normal hearing and have leanded to mimic sounds in Semitic and European languages , I seemd to be able to hear the tones in Mandarin during a year in China but Thai seems much harder, but I am much older and I think all hearing diminishes.

My goal is not to become a fluent orator but communicate with Opticians nurses and medical receptionists, all the Drs I use are relatively fluent in English

I found these resources, any tips or other tools, there are no language schools here, but would consider a month in C Mai if there is a good real school, it is not to gey a visa which I have as I read some are dgree mills to circumvent visa rules.

I am quite happy with my Thai, she's financially independent, a great cook, a good laugh, she's younger than me so i should see me out and her Thai is reasonable.

Pretty sure duolingo doesn't offer Thai, unless it is a recent addition. I'd go for a local course if I were you.

^ It may not be perfect but is it understood? My wife often laughs at my pronunciation, but kids and relatives understand okay so job done. Perfection comes with practice and we all have to start somewhere.

    Exactly

    With thais as with germans

Both delighted that someone bothers with their language

(some thaiwifes being the exception: you know too much and talk too much !)
