What are you doing for NYE?

I’m planning a quiet BBQ, some crayfish and steak, few friends over & drinks some beers and gin. Probably will finish up around 8:00. or 9:00pm as I don’t really buy into the whole midnight malarkey thing.

    you?

Usually at the sister in law's place in Sa Kaeo but as her son was married 3rd this month that counts as the family gathering and everyone is going elsewhere, camping holiday, island getaway, or in our case a go nowhere far for four days.

I enjoy the trip away but getting there and back isn't so much fun, won't miss the stress of 400km highway madness

Barbecue and fireworks at our place. There will be prawns.

In CM for another 5 days.

Will be at Tha Pae Gate with Edith and Edweena and some friends/Edith's old colleagues. Some old gym and Thai language school friends will be in the area, so will slip off to have a lemon soda.

I picked 'Nothing at all', but that sounds a bit boring.

To be honest, I'll probably have a couple of drinks and then try to entice PJG down for a visit and a glass of wine, at which point she will cease responding to messages.

That's the way it usually goes!

I'm hoping that the daughter won't want to stay up to see the New Year in, as it's way too late for me these days.

My wife is thinking about going to the local forest wat's all night chanting and prayer session...hope she decides to go then I can ignore the whole thing and go to bed early. I'm way past that celebration at midnight thing.

    I checked nothing at all.

My neighbors are having their yearly New Years wing-ding. I will show face early in the evening, have a drink, then scoot before the food comes out. Love them to death but they always serve up some exotic Issan offerings that give me the shits.

Back at home by 9PM watching TV is my plan.

According to my wife I will be in a place called muang fuang staying in a floating hut, halfway between vang vieng and vientiane. Currently in vang vieng and its rammed full of backpackers so I think muang fuang will be nice. Getting to old for new years eve shenanigans

I usually set my alarm for quarter to if I remember so I can nip out and light a few sticks in the BBQ pit and see the clock tick over with a glass of single malt in hand

Then duck back in and continue watching whatever movie I was watching

It is way easier than Christmas - 20 minutes out of your schedule tops

I'll listen to some music at home and be in bed well before midnight.
The novelty of Christmas & New Year's Eve wore off some time back

On the other hand the wife and kids no doubt will visit with various relatives in the village returning just after midnight
