If you like institutional racism, rats, homophobia and generally sharia leaning regime this could be for you. Hotels food and grog more expensive than Thailand or Indonesia and aside from excellent Hokkien and Tamil cuisine the general nasi kandar a teacher will afford is slop.

If your idea of heaven is an air conditioned Mall with expensive junk food meet the Malays.
As the entire world inc Commie China embraced English they rejected it many of the Bumi reserved workers in the Post Office speak worse English than my P Office here.

They save those jobs as they could not get them on merit, back down the mosque, It's Alli's a snackbar blaring away at all hours with out Tax Free Gulf wedge to compensate, in the kampong when they are not buggering their kids brothers, sisters they are ruinining the Asli, victimizing the educated Hokkien and Hakka business people, insulting our intelligence with Sharia compliance in Kelantan.

The sole good thing about the federation are the Binturng and Pulai Pinang the only Chinese run state, where a better class of rat will whisper Psssst as you cruise down Chulia Street to Hong Bong Bar and Mooseburgers of Georgetown, Little India near the Ferri

Bum Voyage it's better in Canada , Thailand even Afghanistan as a man than KL

Admittedly there was once reported a clean toilet in Bangsar and the chance to spot Willy in his Y fronts on the BBQ balcony , Ooh could arse four more.

You may PM for a list of places to avoid even Punkama Hut has given up for the self exiled cell that is Arsetear arear aka New Seal Land

It's funny that Sausages chimes in about their women but he is partially right, the malays aren't too hot but I'm not sure why he thinks this is relevant to PB working in country. The country is a shithole backwater outside of a couple of commercial centres.imo

I didn't mean the Bumiputras are clitoris all sorts more a bvnch of gormless khvntz without the boundless optimism of the Thai Buddhist who drives after a liter of 75% Yadong coz he knows he has a million more incarnations. I spoke to a number of closeted gays Malay and foreign who lived in permanent fear, apostasy laws for converts all kinds of reasons to avoid such 3 wankworld fuckwittery with none of Siams easy sleaze

I disagree with David and Nammers regarding the country, but I agree with David about certain groups getting favourable treatment and the culture of mediocracy this encourages among them.

I lived in Borneo, KL and Penang and love the place.

Great food, easy life and generally warm people with a smile and something to say instead of a fake smile and having something to say when they just want to relieve you of your cash.

Exactly, David’s way off base this time. And Sausages is always blowing hot air about shit that he doesn’t know anything about.

I lived in Taiping, halfway between Ipoh and Penang. The small city had excellent food and reasonable amenities. I rather enjoyed living there despite some of the annoyances you mentioned.

I also lived in Sungai Petani, Kedah. The advantage of that place was that it was only 30 minutes to the Penang bridge or ferry terminal. It was also only a 90 minute drive to the Thai border. Other than that, not a lot to recommend Sungai Petani. It was just close enough to other more enjoyable places.

Thanks, cool that Hal has lived in quite a few places in Malaysia too. I have heard nothing but great things about the country. I've been watching a lot of vlogs and know quite a bit now about the country and KL in particular. I am not sure why KW is calling me a liar as I haven't got any pm, but I'm not playing these games with him.

I have not heard of some of these off the beaten trail places, happy. I had the interview, it was almost an hour. I am waiting to hear back, should hear something this coming week for anyone that was wondering.

Did you go to the zoo?

I worked up there once for a few days and went at night. Cool(ish) place for a small town.

I will say though that if you are finding maintaining a strict diet a problem in Canada, it will be nigh on impossible in Malaysia.

There is a constant supply of snacks on the go as well as the ubiquitous roti canai, rendangs, teh tareks etc. It's hell.

There's a good reason why it has the highest rates of diabetes in SE Asia - around 20% of the population.

^I didn't get it, willy. Maybe because you are on my ignore list.

^^Yeah, I see it is food paradise there with the different cuisines. I was reading that it is possible to be vegetarian there though with stores where you can buy imported soy milk for instance. I think some of the local food is worth a try like Roti Cenai, etc... I have a sensitive stomach so I have to be careful what I eat too.

Yes, so much to learn and know, although I went to SK and China by myself and stayed for quite awhile. It wouldn't be my first rodeo overseas.

You don't need to be buying imported stuff like that when you have Indian food on every corner. Even with an iffy stomach, you should find dosas and the less fiery stuff doable.

Why would you buy imported soy milk? The fresh stuff is available at any fresh market.

So much she does not know as she does not open her eyes. Indian vegetarian in my book the best in the world, yet she does not know about vegetarian food in Malaysia. The towns you mentioned in Malaysia are not off the beaten track as she says. The soy milk comment took the cake. Best she stay in Canada.
