Hi Ho silver lining, that Bolero thing, some virtuoso stuff and great cover versions (eg Little Wing). Some say he didn't manage his career well, others think he was a bit lazy- he did fine as an in demand session musician, much like Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones did. But that was all he was seemingly content to do.

Kinda the UK version of Stevie Ray Vaughan (he did a great cover of Little Wing too). But Hendrix created it. Neither will be remembered up there with Hendrix et al, they just don't have the iconic hits, or sound, or sales. Beck could play anything well- his talent is unquestioned.

    RIP.
It's absolutely no surprise to me that sabang favours commercial success over uncompromising artistic merit.

    None of those Brits would have existed if it was not for Americans like;

    BB King
    Chuck Berry
    Les Paul
    Buddy Guy

    etc etc..

They'd all be in Mariachi bands, or mastering the intricacies of the piano accordion mate. Oh, and thanks for rap.

The great Eric Clapton, who was frightened by the insane genius of Hendrix, was replaced at the Yardbirds by none other than Jeff Beck.

    Nuff said.

I too was wondering about whether Beck had either.

    Clapton left.

Like many English musicians of his generation, Clapton was primarily interested in American blues, and he was enough of a purist about it to quit the Yardbirds when they drifted from the blues toward experimental pop with their early 1965 hit “For Your Love.” Clapton recommended as his replacement his friend Jimmy Page, then an enormously successful session musician, but Page declined. That led to the Yardbirds’ hiring Jeff Beck

The first one I bought was a very scratched copy of "Wired" with the inimitable Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. The first original I bought was "There & Back".

I guess, because you're the dismissive ignoramus that you are, you've never heard most of his music. Perhaps you should give it a try.

I'd recommend Alvin Lee as well, you've probably never even heard of him.

    Nice tribute from Joe Satriani:

Jeff Beck was a genius, a stunning original. He was an astounding guitar player with more ways to make you go, “WTF was that?” than anybody else. He was profoundly talented, and never stopped innovating on the instrument.

He had an enormous impact on my guitar playing, my musicianship and my soul. When I was a beginner, I would spend hours trying to jam along with his solo albums. I found his approach to the instrument so inspiring. I was fascinated with his unusual arrangements and his aggressive guitar tones. He always stood out as a unique player: He was always, purely “Jeff Beck”.

His solo albums were all groundbreaking, “ahead of their time”, and paved the way for me and so many other guitarists around the world. And they were fun to listen to, over and over again.

I had the pleasure of saying hello to Jeff a few times, once when Chickenfoot went to see him play at the Fox Theater in Oakland, and a second time when we were all playing at the BosPop Festival in The Netherlands. We all had a fun jam backstage that day.

Unfortunately, I didn’t ever get to really know him. I hope he knew how much I admired, revered and respected him. When I finish writing this I will go and listen to Jeff’s “Where Were You” a few times and thank him for giving us so much beautiful music.

My deepest condolences to his family and close friends. R.I.P. Jeff

How touching- two of the recently voted TD forum Bellends showing such solidarity.
Anyway, hope they play Hi Ho Silver Lining at Beck's funeral- it's all most people have heard of.

The only bellend on TD is the winner of the poll backspit. He is your associate, both of you are useful idiots of Putin and TD stooges. Have you not made a big enough fool of yourself today? I mean not just in this thread, but all over the board. Clearly on a bender.
