To me the more interesting aspect of the American state laws is that you buy it only from a registered store. There are no Facebook or Line adds. That is completely illegal. They do have some checks and balances unlike the way it is here. The weed is heavily taxed and that goes straight into the state coffers.
What interests me most is that this is a perfect time to find out the effects of totally legal weed.
Hopefully somebody with connections to lawmakers will monitor what actually has happened, rather than just stay with the same old prejudices.
Great learning opportunity, which will most likely be squandered.

The govt doesn't seem to like the idea of Thailand becoming the Netherlands of the east.
But that is what it will be if others in the region dont follow. Blue is legal. Red is highly illegal. Light red is illegal but not strictly enforced.
You appear to have some skin in this game, Ciz. What if the government finds that weed is harmful? Would you support its return to illegality? Somehow I suspect not. And then one could argue that you are just as insular.
You are like the sausages of Chiang Mai.
Still vague on the details.
A bill on cannabis and hemp will on Monday be proposed to the House, says the spokesman of a House committee vetting it.
Panthep Phuapongpan, a vocal supporter of cannabis-based medicine and spokesman of the committee, said yesterday the bill will be sent to parliament today with a decision on whether to accept the bill likely before Sept 19th.
Cannabis bill to go before parliament
All a bit of a shit show today. The Democrats, who are totally against legalisation, voted the bill down. There is a good chance it won't get passed this year which is the silver lining.
However, the idiocy with which they make their case is gobsmacking:
Anutin countered that they are playing stupid politics with the election coming up and he's probably right. The Democrat Party on Wednesday said they want cannabis to be reclassified as narcotic to prevent the use of marijuana for recreational purposes. Democrat MPs, led by Satit Wongnontoey, said at a press conference that the party will also demand that the draft Marijuana Bill be recalled to ensured that it will not enable people to use marijuana for recreational purposes because it's detrimental to health, particularity among young people.
The party is a coalition partner of Bhumjai Thai Party which succeeded in decriminalizing marijuana for medical purposes, a move that also led to de facto recreational use. Satit said this "a matter of principle and not politics."
In a related development, Pichai Naripthaphan, vice chairman of Strategic Comittee of the opposition Pheu Thai Party told Khaosod English last week the party will review the use of marijuana for recreational purposes if it's voted back into power after the general election expected by early next year. Pichai said he doesn't want Thailand to be known as a place where foreign parents can let they (sic) children come and get high.
House rejection of cannabis bill 'political', says Anutin
The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth
The Democrats have responded to claims that their objection to the cannabis bill is politically motivated.
How can you not laugh. It was showing that it was a political party that cared about the country, the Democrat leader said.

This article seems to suggest that there will be no law in place for high season.

Its not an article, its a letter to the editor expressing an opinion. Kick back Harry and see how it plays out.
I see my schoolboy error led you to making one of your own.
It's an opinion piece by the assistant news editor.
Anyone, always good to jump the gun eh?
Weed bill opens coalition rifts before poll
Your projections for Thailand's future are based on the Bangkok Post mailbag.
No wonder you post such
Harry I know your post count is paramount to you, but give us a break. "Mailbag", its an opinion not a factual article at all. I know that now that weed is "decriminalized" in Thailand you are all over the topic, but in reality you know little to nothing about it. Your "weed" posts are for the most part comedy gold, so I guess for the entertainment factor I should simply shut up.
Harry 3 months ago you did not know a male from a female plant or Indica from Sativa, now you are all caught up in dinosaur talk. Enjoy.
