went for a paddle in the river yesterday - mirror flat no wind and sunny but freaking cold.
Osprey in the tree on the rivers edge (this is right on billionaire's row in Mosman Pk WA).
There was a bit of noise, thought maybe there was a nest but it was another one in a tree about 50 metres further along. I think it had a fish.
^Nice
The Magpie is a corvid
They are strangely intelligent looking creatures the way they come right up to you and peer at you like an equal
^ they are nest thieves, you didn't have your nest on show with them two eggs and a worm?
^I was actually sunbathing semi-nude on the balcony when he rocked up but I only pull my boxers down at the back to get some sun on my cheeks while I am reading the news. I don't actually get the whole tackle out so I am not sure what peaked his interest.
Makes a change to have a different species of bird eyeing up your tackle on your balcony.

That's some haul!
Im always amazed how much bird life there is in western australia. All kinds of parrots , flocks of budgies etc. The white cockatoo, the corella is everywhere as is the pink and grey galah. Fantastic birds had 2 when i was a lad. They are great talkers and make great pets.the Carnabys are magnificent but ive never heard of anyone taming them
^ Those pink and grey galahs, are they the ones called 'twenty-eights'?
I seem to remember my friends up Woroloo way had a big problem with them eating their peaches.

nah - 28s are green, yellow, blue n black. Pests - my garndfather used to shoot em down on his farm. (but then he also used to shoot wedge tail eagles. Different times for sure).
Theres more lorikeets around WA these days, they were introduced - not pests but often mistaken for 28s.
There are lots and pink and grey galahs and they can be a bit of a pest (they used to strip my parents almond tree of every fucken nut in about half a day) but its the white galahs (they may be corellas?) that are the real problem - huge flocks of them setting in urban and country areas.
Actually these might not be Carnabys - though they do inhabit the area.
I often see red and white tail cockies - they have striking red and white feathers on the underside of their tails. Had a couple of red tail ones sitting in the trees over the road. The white tail ones might be Carnaby's.
And yeah - I love the birds around...I've manged to see 3 different sets of ospreys this year around the river and coast. And often see wedge tails when driving in the country - it always a buzz to see them.

Why teh fuck do these come as attachment links and not pics!
^ Snakeeyes, do you get any cod at all or just the pollack?
At work in the North/Norwegian Seas I've noticed over the past 30 years that the cod have been almost completely replaced by pollack, or 'seith' as they call them in Norway.
Went to the local circuit track today
Does this thing ever look like fun. Probably an expensive hobby tho
