New signs have appeared next to the Kham river in old Luang Prabang town.

I don't think that these signs are intended for the Thai and 'western' tourists.......

The weather here in Norwich has been quite nice lately

In a way nice to be back in the UK for a bit in terms of catching up with family and friends, but the city center has certainly been hit hard by COVID- a lot of boarded up shops. Photo is of Eaton Park.

I got that feeling everywhere I've visited lately.

Everything moving online has been tough on retail but forcing the remaining consumers into a curfew situation where they have no choice but to get the hang of shopping online was the final nail in the coffin I reckon.

Some retail shops deserve to close. I've gone to shops to buy specific producs and was told by staff to buy online. I did, and never set foot in those shops again. And one of the products I bought from a different company, not that shop's website. That was pre-Covid.

Sometimes you need something in a hurry and have no time to wait for delivery only to find it's the wrong size or damaged or whatever.

    Especially with footwear.

Sometimes it's a stress if you miss a delivery and have to travel miles to collect it. Most stores you can have items delivered to their store for convenience.

It might not be Koh- Samui but Sheringham has nice yesterday. Got to show a Mongolian friend around the little town I spent some of my chilldhood in, which felt pretty surreal. We had pints, no drinking Glen's Vodka in the clock tower, wasn't feeling like reliving my teenage years

There' s an expanse of 17 hectares of wild flower clifftop meadow near me in Kent, UK. Unfortunately the area is being encroached upon by an invasive plant - Alexanders. It grows like thick rhubarb stems and smothers out all other plants.

I helped organise a group to scythe them down before they seed. Removing them also reduces the soil fertility and will hopefully mean wildflowers can out compete grasses. We will organise a pulling out event next Spring when the soil is wet and softer.

Thats not a adult mouse, a full grown one would easily extricate itself from those sticky mats.

I'm a bit of an expert you know

    Wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim’rous beastie,
    O, what a panic’s in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
    Wi’ bickering brattle!
I wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee,
    Wi’ murdering pattle!

    I’m truly sorry Man’s dominion
    Has broken Nature’s social union,
    An’ justifies that ill opinion
    Which makes thee startle
At me, thy poor, earth-born companion
    An’ fellow-mortal!

    I doubt na, whyles, but thou may thieve;
What then? poor beastie, thou maun live!
    A daimen-icker in a thrave
    ‘S a sma’ requet;
I’ll get a blessin wi’ the lave,
    An’ never miss’t!

Thy wee-bit housie, too, in ruin!
Its silly wa’s the win’s are strewin!
An’ naething, now, to big a new ane,
    O’ foggage green!
    An’ bleak December’s win’s ensuing,
    Baith snell an’ keen!

Thou saw the fields laid bare an’ waste,
    An’ weary Winter comin fast,
An’ cozie here, beneath the blast,
    Thou thought to dwell,
Till crash! the cruel coulter past
    Out thro’ thy cell.

That wee bit heap o’ leaves and stibble,
Has cost thee monie a weary nibble!
Now thou’s turned out, for a’ thy trouble,
    But house or hald,
To thole the Winter’s sleety dribble,
    An’ cranreuch cauld!

But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best-laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men
    Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
    For promis’d joy!

Still thou are blest, compared wi’ me!
    The present only toucheth thee:
But Och! I backward cast my e’e,
    On prospects drear!
An’ forward, tho’ I cannot see,
    I guess an’ fear!

Another day, another mouse falls prey and comes to a sticky end.

Could this be the start of the first bubonic plague of the 3rd millenium?

I did not understand if the consensus was that the last one was a mouse or a baby rat but I am curious to know

This one looks identical in every way including dimensions. I think they are siblings.

I think the big fella I bagged in the mechanical trap last month was defo a rat based on size alone
