I've been growing some basil here, but it always dies. What's your wife's secret?

There are many coasts, even ones outside the UK.

Can't you see the Chinese cockle pickers stuck on that sand bank?

It's like the Morecambe and Wise show on here at times

    ^ Like fungi sprouting.

Great weather for such a great pic/experience.

It's amazing engineering how those newer slender skyscrapers are able to stay erect.

Almost looks like Central Park is about to get gangbanged.

This room service was less than twenty bucks, however the onion soup was the worst ever, burger meat quality was awesome but completely unseasoned and wifey seemed to enjoy her Thai dish.

3*** but with great rating hence a bit of disappointment

However, I'll always use every opportunity to stay in a world class family resort known as Patterz

    Have Ya Dong... will travel.

It's amazing what 4 half bottles of Isaan's finest, 12 mangoes and a bunch of these revolting, bitter little things that look like long gones will get you in Bangkok.

The Dragon Fruit is a curious thing. The plant, the flower, the fruit, each is unusual. This one has just burst into flower in a neighbour's garden.

The old lady from whom I bought the land recently passed away. She was the other side of 90 and has 5 surviving children. A couple of her sons are not the full shilling. She had over 30 rai, about 5 at the front being land left fallow for decades and over 20 being standard rice fields which someone rented, none of the family was involved in farming. My plot had overgrown, peaceful greenery on two sides. A reservoir for insects, birds and squirrels amongst the rice fields.

A couple of weeks back, one son turned up and built himself a shack. He moved in full time. Then he started hacking at the undergrowth. No power tools involved. He has been out there in the hottest part of the year, hacking away relentlessly. Most of the smaller trees are gone, I now have a clear view of his fine new home and an even finer mature tamarind tree that he has now started on.

He has kept the larger logs. Everything else has been burned in the best Isaan tradition. Quite what his vision for the future is remains a mystery. Probably he'll get some water and some electricity down there. Maybe a toilet even.

^ I think that area could do with a nice resort!

There's currently roadworks on Mittraparp Road through central Korat so I've been taking a different route home after the afternoon school pick-up. Pretty much every day we see monitor lizards swimming in the moat that surrounds the old Korat city and today, while we were stuck at traffic lights, the daughter managed a pic.

I've promised my lovely young daughter that if we have time tomorrow we'll have a walk around the moat and get some good monitor lizard photos. She's not in the slightest bit interested of course but I'll bribe her... it'd be a bit weird doing it on my own.

Exactly Mendip, although "resort" is short in Thai for 8 hour knocking shop. Shu, have a word about some fence to reduce headlight ingress and those weird Thai boing noises you hear on tv whenever some comedy moment happens
