Not an AC filter, a vegetable grater or tin foil.

    It's not metal.

It's not any kind of nest, but you are closer in a way than 'corrugated iron'.

I think that 'plant' is a bit vague to take the green, but it's not a plant anyway.

^ I just told my daughter that someone had guessed 'termite mound' and she started laughing out loud!

    So... no!

But it is associated with animals.

Whale blubber? I recall it having that texture in an old b/w photo.

We have lots of these in the garden in Korat.... a 5 hour drive from the sea.

    So no, not whale blubber!

Sorry, but I can't even say it was close.

Its nice to see the grain in some Thai wood instead of it being painted with that gloop they seem to spread over most furniture which is so thick you may as well paint the stuff on concrete.

The feather was photographed on our elephant table. We bought the table and chairs in Hua Hinn many years ago... I have no idea what kind of wood it is. Never really thought about it, to be honest. Is there any way to check if it's acacia Klondyke?

Cannot say for sure, it obviously has got few more varnishing. Most of these things are carved from one solid piece of acacia in villages of North. I have extensive collection (of pictures):

^ Its cut across the trunk so its not easy to see the cross grain which make identification easier, Mendip get the chain saw out and helps us here

Actually, there are no other trees than mai chamchaa for this kind of carvings.

Except some smaller pieces by teak many years ago, but that's nowadays very rare.

I must say the contrast with the sapwood does work well with acacia.
