I found this gem in the Daintree Rain Forest in Northern Queensland, Australia in the village of Kuranda. I had to take a train up the mountain to this village which as magical. Then I took a cable car down the mountain overlooking the Great Barrier Reef.

Cool photo Mendip.

The one in the foreground fell a long time ago but the one in the background fell in the storm before Christmas
The crown shattered like matchsticks when it hit the ground so I am wondering if it was already sick before it tumbled

Bradford pear on the road nearby. They are ornamental pears which are invasive species in this area. A beautiful pest.
This fallen Oak also doubles as a bridge across the brook, not that the dog is bothered about getting wet in freezing water...

Are you a tree hugger "hugging" or an oxygen provider?
"How much oxygen does a tree produce in one day?
"A mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year."
"A 100-foot tree, 18 inches diameter at its base, produces 6,000 pounds of oxygen." "
On average, one tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year. Two mature trees can provide enough oxygen for a family of four.

Plant a tree and leave a gift that keeps giving, year after year, for everyone.
My 50 Durian trees, which live for decades, provide an increasing annual income, along with enough oxygen for 100 people every year.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
As kids we used to zip wire from the top of this tree using a washing line rope and a dog choker chain..
What a beauty..
Why I love Thailand! We bought a rice paddy and filled it with trees.
^ long term play. I planted loads of trees in my garden and gradually had to remove most of them as they just outgrew it. The tropics - they just grow at a mad rate.
