When I first started travelling a lot with work I decided to collect a woman from every country... not real ones unfortunately.
Some nice pieces, some tat... (and even a couple of blokes) but each one with a memory.

^ Bottom right corner, second inward. Is that a troll?
^ Yep!
That's all I could find from Norway.
A Japanese woodblock print Ukiyo-e. Not an antique but printed with the original old blocks.
Picked this up 20 years ago in a junk shop, you probably think it still belongs there.
Its a vase, a mermaids head and i knew straight away what it was and who'd made it. Picking it up and turning it over confirmed it was by Guy Sydenham who's probably not known outside the UK or much in it either but to collectors of pottery he is famous as a leading potter in Poole Pottery. I had a visitor over 10 years ago offer me £400 for it, his stuff is quite rare. I paid 10p. Pen for scale

I have two ladies like this from the same artist, around 3-4ft high from north of Thailand. This one is like a Latin dancer but holding a prayer wheel and has an African or hilltribe look to her, the other is totally covered in a benjarong style with gold leaf that was more than 4months work to finish. I kept seeing them and finally had to bring them into my life, someday look forward to passing them on..
That's quite an unusual mix going on there KIL, RU sure its a prayer wheel and not and instrument?
Antique Gashqa'i carpet that now graces the living room floor...6 trunks of carpets, saddle bags, ghelims, pottery, copperware and a small resource library to explain what they are await my inheritors...other examples of these fine carpets: qashqai carpets - Google Search

^ Those colors are beautiful.
^ nice thread this cheers all, @NPT that is what I thought as it looks like a tambourine or a small round harp but the guy who commissioned it told me it’s a Buddhist wheel- not my expertise area at all there and I thought usually they have more than 3 spokes! (8?!) but anyhow that’s art right, make of it what you will!
^ Yeah KIL, not trying to catch you out, art is what you make it. I just looked at the three holes? toward the outside bottom which look like note holes. Anyhow as i said irrelevant. 3-4 ft is very impressive and she has a lovely face, must be a nightmare everytime you have to move - me they'd be sat in their own seats bubble wrapped and strapped in
My fav artist is L.S.Lowry, I have a collection of 10 prints.
Here's one I have hung in the hallway. .
I got this cool little wood inlay at a thrift shop.
Must be why he’s smiling.
She doesn't look so green in natural light.
This is Miss Angola...
The African women often seem to go topless. Miss Gabon...
Another feature seems to be that the women often seem to be with child... maybe a good luck fertility thing?
Miss Angola certainly appears to have a distended belly, and Miss Brazil looks to be well into her third trimester.
Ruddy hell ,it's like a Miss World Competition of antique statues, sounds like a top thread
I'm gonna get my arse in gear on this thread coz I've got a house full of beauties
