My bet is on Dilly
My bet is on Dilly
Not at the five and dime silly.
Wednesday . . . stage three at the moment.
Ardern just gave an announcement along with the treasury and education ministers - first time I've liked her. Calm, compassionate and firm. Just what people need right now.
Mrs Hat was at the mall getting some necessities at the chemist and then meat at the Mad Butcher for the youngest Hat . . . and three girls ran out of the butcher's with stolen meat . . . a lady had collapsed with a heart attack in her car and people were fighting for food at the supermarket.
Stupid, stupid, stupid . . . she was all shaken when she got home and we're only leaving the house to help some of the older folk in the cul-de-sac where we live. Our youngest sprog (the on Dillinger totally dissed . . . sad . . . sad . . . sad) went around and put a leaflet in their mailbox telling them we're available to help them out if they need.
The place is going nuts . . . sirens everywhere . . . dumb cnuts, relax
Damn Panama. My gripe is sizing these pics and swilling down the Whiskey. Hey if you can make it to the brew town they have a place called the safe house. A few trix to get in but after that you'd be ok.
Reports on the news of police being called to supermarkets . . . geez, NZ is an agricultural country with loads of food supplies . . . chill, people
^ Get the crockery back out mate, have yourself a nice cup of tea. You do have some fine British Tetley I hope
Going into Promenada was like entering Chernobyl.
^ are you on a go kart there?
I thought you ladies in NZ were famous for being chilled.
Did a long stint at work Sat through Sun and then driving home yesterday it was quiet on the motorway again. Popped into a couple of stores and whole lines of food stuffs are sold out. Walked out of both with only a 2 pint carton of milk to show for my troubles, milky noodles it is then or i have to resort to tipping my hat to loops and knock up a rice omelette
Where's Betts - he gone full lock down?
Yup, agree. As much as she keeps saying that NZ has the toughest this and that . . . so many things should have been done earlier, copying others is actually a good thing when i comes to this. At least they admitted that the financial part is being copied from the Australian example . . . to suit NZ . . . and why not.
Again, when I arrived at AKL on Thursday from Malaysia I was gobsmacked that all anyone had to do was fill out a form, hand it to a person with no face-mask on, proceed to immigration and hand in your passport to another person without gloves nor face-mask, then on to baggage claim and finally customs - again - no face-mask and only a cursory glance at the dec.
Also, considering the added scrutiny that should be going on, I had to renew my Aussie passport in November as I'd run out of pages but would have had to go to the NZ High Com in Singapore to transfer my PR - didn't have time. So, NZ immigration couldn't have seen that I actually hold PR status but let me in anyway without proof of residence, return ticket etc...
Three Americans sitting behind me were planning on things to see and where to go and where to stay during their vacation - I doubt very much the 14-day self-isolation would have been kept up by them
Yes, that's quite sad.
I've also often wondered why NZ doesn't have saltwater desalination plants in areas (if anywhere) that are now annually drought-affected. It sees a no-brainer, really.
That's all electronic these days though, it would show on Immigration NZ computers.Originally Posted by panama hat

Other than Trump who is just an out-and-out incompetent fool more interested in how the media is covering him than actual results (or deaths) I'm sure the majority of leaders are doing their best or at least attempting to.
Sharing cross-country? Well, if it's anything like the banks . . . yup, but then why the necessity to transfer the PR?
Absolutely . . . and I did say that she did a good job in being comforting, succinct etc . . . and she actually got some applause from Mrs Hat who can't stand her not her policies.
From what I can gather she is also one of the few who haven't likened it to a war, the other being Merkel. Maybe women aren't as gung-ho to talk about something they know nothing about.
Sill won't vote for her
