"How do I isolate in a hotel?
If you need to isolate, you should inform hotel management, who will advise you about where in the hotel you may stay. You will not be able to engage with other guests or receive visitors. Hotel staff will be able to bring you food and other supplies you may require. Hotel staff may supply you with a surgical mask to wear while they are in your room with you. While you are alone, there is no need to wear a mask. If you need to leave the hotel, such as to seek medical care, wear a mask. If you need to isolate, it is important that you do not use hotel facilities, such as restaurants, cafes, pools, gymnasiums and business centres. This may mean you need to use room service or other food delivery services."
A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
AUD off a cliff, Interest rates may even go negative- they've already been slashed to the bone
90% of Qantas international flights slashed
Our lucrative foreign education sector in panic mode. One of our biggest exports.
Australians being strongly advised not to travel O/S, and difficult to do so anyway
Seafood & Produce exports to China slashed. Less so, Resources too.
All sporting events and large gatherings (eg Wedding parties) cancelled. Sport strictly TV only- unheard of in sports mad Oz
We're heading for grim Recession- and unless the brakes come off in a reasonable time, maybe Depression.
But the only people I have seen wearing masks are Asian!

No work till April!
Time to get stuck into some DIY
My interview is delayed, I expected that might happen and is totally out of my control no biggie.
On Friday the MoE here will announce if school is resuming, Friday is also my birthday and the best present at this stage would be a return to normality.
Old fella???? You'll see who's an old fella!!!
So, checked in at Kota Kinabalu and dropped by the MAS office to see if I could change my flight to Auckland . . . a long queue, but finally go there . . .
MAS has established a no-cost change of flight during this time of uncertainty and I managed to get my usual seat (long legs need space) on the flight tomorrow morning . . . happiness.
Just got to the office here in KL, met with a colleague to give him a de-brief and hand over some documents, finished packing and ready for a shower and a five-hour sleep and then off to KLIA and NZ
Happiness.
The company I work for is in meeting now with union representatives discussing laying workers off.
^ Hope for the best for you Chit, it is unfortunately not an unusual story at present.
Going through the same at work and its been emotional. Lots of youngsters no savings, rent to pay, lots of olds approaching retirement with investments which 3 months ago with annuities looked fine now tanked, company shares which have been invested in now bobbing along the bottom and the incomes they thought were there have shrunk to naught. Lots of Senior managers, you know the sort, talk up the good times and their share bonuses are strangely missing and there are lots of olds like me seem to be left facing the music or the tears.
Easy to criticise the Govt for its response but its unprecedented, my advice is to hang in there and see what happens but focus on your family as its what is important. I seem to be spending most of my time as a counselor / social worker but at the moment its what you have to do when there is so much uncertainty and fear around, lots of kids and 50/60 YOs having a difficult time with understanding what is coming and what to do.
Anyhow, take care all and think about those who have less than you or are potentially facing a cliff edge, of which there's lots.
Cheers Sid.
Working from home for the foreseeable future and Bogota is on a 4 day lockdown "drill" from Friday. Had flights booked to go away in 3 weeks, but Avianca have said I can put them in the bank and use them at a later date at no extra charge as all borders have been closed in Colombia unless you're a resident, which would mean a 14 day quarantine on my return. That's if they're not bankrupt by then, of course.
One funny thing ahead of the lockdown was seeing the local supermarket pushing their beers to the front with the amount of parties that will be taking place at home this weekend. They've shoved the gels and shampoos to the back and the alcohol now sits at the front of the supermarket under the "health and beauty" sign.
I bought 6 packs and expect to be suitably beautified by the end of the weekend.
Luckily for me, I teach online. Only more and more demands to teach science to kids in many different countries. I can't teach any more hours, or I'll collapse No virus stats issued for Laos, Chinese tourists have all disappeared. My only precaution is a mask (because of the air pollution from wood burning in the hills), and I take care not to touch surfaces in the shops.
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile
Very concerned for parents’ health and well being. Both in late 80s.
60% of my income is from rental properties in UK and Malaysia. The KL place is empty. Unsure whether UK tenants will pay. The government seems to have given them a charter not to pay, irrespective of their circumstances
Mid house re-build. A couple of builders’ merchants closed. Most likely to close on Friday. i have enough material on site for another month or so but unlikely to be able to finish on schedule
Several business owner friends fear they may be pushed to bankruptcy. One imports bikes from China, another has a pub and small hotel. Both highly leveraged.
A friend of 40 years reluctantly asked for a loan today. The crisis is the straw that’s broken the camel’s back. They are dependent on their house sale to finance their move overseas.
Plan to sail with friend from Sardinia to UK late June (7-8 weeks) now scuppered.

As a further measure in the fight against the corona virus, the Czech Republic is now introducing a mandatory mouthguard in public. Anyone wishing to be in public must wear a mouth and nose cover. The cabinet of Populist Prime Minister Andrei Babis decided on Wednesday. A spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry in Prague said that medical mouth and respiratory masks or a scarf, a scarf or a balaclava can be used to cover the mouth and nose. The measure is to take effect on Thursday night.
I just looked at my pension plan and its value is down almost 1/3 on what it was 2 months ago.
Fcuk!! Thank heavens I don't have one of those
