Went shopping today. With a list!

Amazingly I only spent half what I normally do, just wandering around a supermarket, picking up whatever catches my eye.

So you didn't stick to your list, bought what you wanted like normally without a list and saved money - purely because you made a list and ignored it?

    Am i reading this wrong?

Yep, that's why I prefer to shop with a good idea of the dishes I'm going to cook for the week first.

Unlike you, I had wife with me today who picks up whatever and we spent double the usual budget. She'll end up throwing stuff out due to sell by date.

^ Sounds like my missus, although she will still try and cook it when it's out of date, whilst ignoring the stench.

Roll on the summer and her Thai outdoor kitchen or q as Willy calls it

yeah, I think your missus cooking out of date food and ignoring the stench is very different to a Q.

I stuck to my list, apart from 1 item which I knew I could get at half the price elsewhere. It was simply an exercise in self discipline.

Big thank you to Cyrille for his usual worthless contribution. Sometimes it’s better to just STFU rather than make shit up, and make yourself look foolish, again.

Do you believe that expression is 17th century? I looked it up years ago, pre-Internet, and the origins were unclear, as I recall.

Fair 'nuff. It is a curious piece of English. It's cousin 'pissed as a fart' is also obscure.

Forsooth, armstrong wouldn't know a 17th century expression if it kicked him in the codpiece.
