Top stuff, well done.
Onya, Wal. Go for it, mate. And do stop drinking. Find a nice girl and have some fun.
Good job and good luck, you make it sound easy.
Tip: should be proofread by someone else, never the author who's so familiar with the text that he will read through glaring errors any number of times.
Hmmm. A kids book full of spelling and grammar errors.
It's not the best educational prop is it?
Don't sweat the small stuff, Wally. Well done with the book, and hope it sells.
You've wrote galahs are stupid birds but don't explain why? Kids are gonna ask why.
HTF do I explain that?
^ They never stop wanting explanations
I just saw this book has been on sale on Amazon for 3 months and on there it says the author has been a teacher of English for a quarter of a fukkin Century.
@wally - congrats! Well done and hope this new venture lifts your spirits up. And yes, as the others have said, maybe next time have it proofread.
As with manuscripts, thesis, etc - when you're always staring at it, typing and revising it, you tend to miss out the small mistakes, so it's best to have another person look at it.
Cheers and good luck!
Thats in the True or False questions. Earlier in the book I say that they are smart birds as they can learn to mimic humans speaking.
Its not full of mistakes - but it needs a bit of editing. Putting it all together was not so easy, and when I uploaded the manuscript I kind of knew that it most probably needs tweaking.Hmmm. A kids book full of spelling and grammar errors.

It takes a lot more work than, for example, it does to be a cynical smart arse
It's simply you bloody flaming galah!*Originally Posted by Dillinger

Anyone can self publish on Amazon.
If you are making a picture story book, its quite a lot of work though.
This is my second book and it only took a couple of months. The first book I did took almost a year, as I made so many mistakes and had to go back and fix them.
Getting my head around the bleed space - the border around your images that gets trimmed when it goes to print was the biggest headache. I had finished the book and had to go back and edit all of the images, which was a nightmare.
Amazon sell your book as a paperback, which are not the best quality. I had hardcover copies of my first book printed in China from a company I found on alibaba. The quality is really good. I have them for sale in Japanese duty free stores in Australia, and have sold some to schools here in Japan. I got them printed for less than a dollar each, so there is a fair bit of profit to be made if I can move them..
What a coincidence, I've just finished my first book!
Now I'm going to take it back to the library and get another one.
