Posting personal pics on a forum can be a little daunting, but this one from years ago kind of draws the viewer into the character and spirit of the area i live in.

Using computer simulations from NASA, scientists have been able to show how the mysterious environment of a supermassive black hole may host the largest tsunami-like structures in the universe.

We slept through this morning's online lessons so skipped the afternoon ones as well and went to a "farm".

Another nerdy project in the making :) My radio amateur hobby has been concentrated down on the good old shortwave bands, because radio signals can travel worldwide at those frequencies. Up at 50 MHz, there's another 'ham' band that I've never used, since radio propagation usually means that signals only travel a few hundred km. But I knocked up a simple test antenna and was pleasantly surprised to find that from my location in north Laos, I could get into Germany, Ukraine etc!
So I'm testing and tuning a new, physically-stronger antenna for that band. It's made of bamboo slats, with the antenna wires attached. It's temporarily pulled up off the ground to allow me to tweak the antenna resonant frequency, without the ground affecting that frequency. After I've finished optimising it, I'll mount it on my antenna mast.
The antenna currently resonates at about 47 MHz, not 50 MHz. So out with the wire snippers today :) (That little electronic instrument is a VNA 'Virtual Network Analyser' which can rapidly measure and display the antenna frequency response, impedance, and a host of other technical parameters across a selected frequency range.)

Love it. I know nothing about it. But it clearly keeps you busy.
Not my photos, but a couple of scenes from Phuket Town last night (1st July), where Michaelangelo's Bar/Restaurant was celebrating Canada Day. Something of normality in these times.

While filming The Exorcist, Linda Blair was rigged to a mechanical bed that shook her so violently she fractured her spine. The shot was used in the final film, and her screams of pain were real.
