Kangaroos. Japan is plagued by them.
Kangaroos. Japan is plagued by them.
Was looking at moving to the east coast 2 years ago. Daily swimming in the morning and beach activities for the kid every evening being the main reason. That option was quickly scrapped with a recon. Every beach along the coast was rubbish tip. And ain't raising a kid in Pattaya.
Though Prawnograph posts some very nice beachshots from around Chantaburi area, simply too far for international schooling. Shame really, as that coast and those beaches could be quality.
The authorities and the locals just don't give a shit.
Was in a nice beachfront place near Ban Chang a few months ago.
Nice wee spot.
Then the sand directly in front of the beachfront restaurant.
While the 2 or 3 Thais running the place sleep, pick their nose, or play on their phone.
You know what Thai face and ego are like when it comes to cleaning up after other people.

^ Exactly same as that.
Have been pondering a move to Rayong ish for a long time as Korat is just too far from the coast for me. But, need to be within an easy drive of Pattaya for international school options. Yet to find a clean beach within my target area.
The place we're staying at now for a few days is beach-front and would be lovely if it wasn't for the rubbish. I've been fishing every day and just pull out plastic bag after plastic bag.
^^ The sea was a few feet to my right. Yes, it does look like a landfill.
Not sure what the beach is called, but not far from the Cartoon Network place.
Bang Saray became an option, it was the best place around Pattaya. Okay beach, but a bit too built up for us, small tight roads (that no doubt get jammed) and a twice daily commute into Pattaya for schooling would quickly become a long and painful drag.
Sattahip is okay, there was one school there, only an EP rather than Int. but with ties to the navy and a good reputation. IIRc there was/is an Int. School in Rayong or Bang Chang.
Koh Larn or the island behind it are your best bet or ratther only bet for beaches and clear water for swimming close to Pattaya. Only a 15 minute speedboat away from Bali Hai pier.
Koh Samet's not far away, prefer Koh Chang and surrounding islands myself though but about 4 or 5 hours with the ferry.
Utapao airport is international and flies to Qatar now whicb should suit you, and not a far flight to any Thai island.
Not sure living on Koh Larn and getting a speed boat to and from school every day is really a viable option.
^ No, a long commute but a nice thought!
For holiday islands I like Koh Chang because I can take the car.
As for living, it's looking more and more likely Korat will be permanent.... the little one's happy in an international school and roads out are improving. And there's no dirty beaches in Korat either!
A promised high speed rail link coming as well. One hour 40 mins, Korat to Bangkok. Could have an argument with the wife at lunchtume and be on Sukhumvit for happy hour!
^ Think about CM up north.
Lovely hilly, jungle nature all around. Good choice of Int. Schools. Was actually quite cold last night. Great choice of amenities. Commuting is a breeze with that Super highway. That Utapao airport place is 800b and an hour away for beach breaks.
Koh Larn, odd day out during the smoke/cancer season.
Five hours on a fairy Dill. Awww. It's not the journey, it's the ride. No pics please.
It's three in the morning, where the hell is Montclair man?
Beam me up a bottle, Dilly.
^ Laos or Chiang Mai or are you out hiking?
No Dill, I'm living in the past. This was on the edge of Tad Fane a few years ago. It's Laos highest waterfall and if you are at the tourist spot this is the left hand falls.
I wanted to get there last round to fly the drone from this spot but didn't make it. Just zipped on over it.
Hey when I have more time I'll do it. That's a bet.
I can take you there. Really, I know the way.
Looks great. Must be nice up there and CM in the heat of the summer here. I could do with the exercise
Why would the fish shit you?
Living on the edge all the time anyway.
I've never been there this time of year. I can say I was in Paksong last January and we stopped at a market just so I could get some type of pants as it was cold, no kidding. No luck.. seems not to many German Jews head that way these days. I did manage to find the Maltese Falcon...I Lost the Falcon but found this. I made a vid of this place. Bear with me. It's my days off.
I know how much you guys love me and Youtube. This is my first ever and no I don't plan to do this for a buck, Nev ever. Besides it doesn't pay.
Heavy rain approaching our home as seen from the Lotus Tesco car park in Pua. Sadly when we got home we'd only got the edge of it but a squall had knocked over a clothes hanger with several sheets drying on it; back into the washing machine they went.
