I must say thank you to a bunch of Thai teenagers for their help when I had a small accident on my bike. I was at a local market close to where I live in NONTHABURI province. It had been raining earlier and I came around a corner and slid on the bridge close to my house. I ended up sliding to the curb of the bridge and whacked the gear shift onto my left ankle and then stopped.

5 teenagers soon came by and saw my bike laying on top of me. They quickly stopped and helped get the bike off of me and get it upright again. I was so lucky that they came by so soon. They got the bike up again and saw that my ankle was bleeding and asked me where I lived. One of the kids knew my moooban.

They got my bike up and they helped me unto another guys bike and another guy followed with my bike to my house.

I'm so thankful for their help. Turns out that I hit an oily spot and only whacked my ankle and no other damage to me or the bike. I only bent the shift lever a little bit and straightened it out the next day. My wife spoke to them and I asked to give them some money for their help but they all refused.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for the help even if they never see it.

At least it's here for others to see.

I was at school and dropped 1300 baht from my back pocket. Didn't miss it until I got home and thought it could have dropped anywhere...gone.
I had been chatting to a couple of students on my way out that day, and so on the off-chance, asked one of the boys if they had found any money. Yes he had, and had handed it in to the office. He took me to the office and had signed the dosh in, and when I claimed it (one x 500b and eight x 100b's) they gave it back to me.
I gave the boy, against his protestations, 300 for his honesty.

Glad to hear you're okay.

It literally can happen at any time anywhere on a bike. A sudden pothole (especially a Thai pothole/15 foot deep crater), rock that fell off a truck, or just a truck that u-turns in front of you, or a small patch of oil or gravel on a bend.

Good story. Get some ice and painkillers for yer ankle. It's gonna be a lot more painful tomorrow.

I was so lucky that I was going slow and not do much damage to me me or the bike. Still hurts though 555 Nice kids they were though.

Happy u r ok without serious injury or road rash. Nice there we folks to help and get u straightened out. I appreciate hearing about Thai kids doing the right thing - happens much more often than I sometimes imagine, although the same is true in the States also - a few pricks give the entire generation a bad name.

Same happened to me in June a dog ran out into the rd from local market, locals lifted me off the deck, lucky no cars behind or I'd have been permanently miserabled,was wearing a helmet and no injuries

Good result, and on the plus side a fine excuse to keep your feet up for a few days, or more if you get to like it.
