Slight point of order.... the capital of UAE is actually Abu Dhabi, though you would never believe it, just as it might be a surprise for some to learn that the national airline of the UAE is not Emirates, its Etihad.

You can buy an air ticket at any of the airline sales outlets in the Malls with cash. I have done it regularly.

Dubai is designed to suck your monthly wages back out of you and to the Emirate - they really depend on that revenue as they have no oil. thats why they are always creating the newest, biggest, latest fastest everything - to keep high income individuals entertained. give me Abu Dhabi any day - you are free to do as much as you want, but in Dubai there is pressure to go to the latest show, restaurant, club, beach party, etc etc.

Oh.. and the place is absolutely over run with Russian prostitutes, and fat middle aged Russians pimps pretending they are 'the mafia ' and generally living the life of the criminal. Its one of Dubai's great mysteries as to why the police seem powerless to deal with this phenomenon. the laydees are there purely for the Arabs of course - no one else will touch them. Pay-offs, freebies, incompetence, ignorance have all been touted s 'the reason'.

BTW, Abu Dhabi does not have the 'Russian' problem. I guess Abu Dhabi Emiratis are more switched on to the con than their Dubai counterparts

Stick to Al Ain a better class of Russian pilots at the Rotana, they are also broadminded and will service distressed Ukranian or Kazak ladies if necessary b4 a check up at the kennedy Elf centre which has this wonderful blurb
