^ Well be sure to be a good boy now, and follow doctor's orders.

Can't have just anyone being their own doctor, what would the world come to?

Heaven forbid humanity begins to efficiently manage resources and develop empathy for our mother earth.

On the downside your mental acuity has sharply declined, you’ve become a figure of ridicule for your unhinged ranting and demonstrable lack of a grasp on facts and reality, and your bald-faced hypocrisy has exceeded epic-levels - matched only by the level of your inability to recognize it.

But hey, as long as you feel good and your piss tastes nice to you...

All pretty meaningless given it coming from someone who doesn't understand intelligence.
Intelligence is one's ability to process and learn new information.
Something obviously you demonstrate very clearly over and over, that you lack.
Your presence here for for the past 12 years repeating the same dumb shit over and over is the proof.
Intelligence is also in part some self awareness, something you demonstrate a distinct lack thereof, over and over during the past 12 years, you just do the same over and over.

Your ongoing presence and your repeated comments give absolute credence to the fundamental truth about intelligence; "you can't fix stupid"...
Have ya nice day hey Anty McPanties...Don't be getting ur knickers into another mighty fine twist...

Well the miracle book has arrived and I'm up to chapter 2, seems quite repetitive so far, best have a cigarette with some nicotine juice added for an extra buzz..

I will finish this boring book as a medical TD experiment, but as it stands I'm not convinced. .

Both of my brothers smoke and have tried quitting time and time again. It is just a bad habit.. like a crutch which is needed when they are stressed.

When in fact it is a stimulant so doesn't help stress in the slightest.
I've been free from nicotine for nearly 5 months this time and don't miss it at all, surprisingly.

Tried everything aside from cold turkey; hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, acupuncture, positive thought, gum, tabs the lot, now resigned. Even booked and paid for a place at that Thai temple where they feed prospective quitters with some stuff that makes them throw up violently, and chickened out. Did manage a phenomenal 10 weeks using Zyban, but then lapsed.

Best quitting stunt I've come across was a kid from a wealthy London family, offered (club members) 1000-1 if they see him smoke again or has smoke on his breath, honourable chap, was sure his father would disown him if he turned up asking for a large bailout over a frivolous wager, bastard cleaned up with a tenner from me and more than £100 overall and as far as I know hasn't smoked or looked back since.

I went cold turkey in 2009.
What worked for me was naming the tobacco and the addiction the enemy and then going to battle against it .
Also from the morning I stopped I told myself I was a non smoker. I maintained my social routine, beers etc, but the battle was constantly in the forefront of my mind.
I even teased it, in the bar holding a lit cigarette or picking up a packet and smelling it and then laughing at it. As a non smoker I was in complete control.
Over a period of a couple of weeks I could feel various parts of me actually hurt and a little voice telling me to just have a smoke and the pain will go away, but I was ready for that foolish , feeble little voice and just laughed at it. The next day it was another part of me that hurt and again that foolish little voice begging for tobacco to ease the pain.
Oh how I laughed at and told it to fuck off, day after day until it finally relented and fucked off for good.
I never for one moment dropped my defenses. When that little voice, the voice of the tobacco, popped up, and I knew it would I was always prepared and waiting for it and ready to tell it to fuck off and remind it how it had lost control and was just a weak and feeble, not to mention evil, tobacco addiction.
It was me against the addiction and I won and I really think naming the enemy (The addiction) was the key.
And telling myself from the start that I was now a non smoker helped too.
It worked for me, maybe it'll work for you.
    Good luck dill.

You've basically just described the approach of Allan Carr's 'Easy Way To Give Up Smoking' there.

If you'd perfected that approach 30 years ago you could have made a fortune out of it.

Well done, Cujo....and an interesting story.

Addictions are indeed strange phenomenona. It yourself fighting against yourself.....the conscious against the subconscious.

I have never studied the whole thing, and although I am familiar with the name Alan Carr, have never read anything by him (that I can remember). But my understanding of the phenomenon mirrors what Cyrille has described as Carr's method.

It seems to me that feelings are connected to the subconscious, which is only tenuously connected to the conscious.

Jabir....perhaps you would be well-advised to try this method ? Basically it is cold turkey, which you say is the only thing you have not tried. But your conscious really needs to want to give up. I have seen so many times people only half-heartedly wanting to. You can almost see the rationalization keeping the smoking habit in place.

...good start...you may soon move on to denigrating smokers before finally viewing them with condescension as weak souls in need of pity...you'll share this opinion with anyone who will listen and with many who won't...we've all been there...
