    Anyone from Chicago?

Long story short a bank account I have has been frozen and I have to go in person to prove my identity.

I have never been to Chicago, so I was wondering if there is a train from the Airport to "Monroe" station. I understand that there is and it's a "blue line". From the maps I see that it is a direct line from O'Hare to Monroe, but I just want to confirm.

Also, any tips how to deal with anal US banks? I am afraid the whole trip may be in vain. I suspect they froze my account either because of patriot law/tax regulations, so I have to prove I am Canadian or simply because I was logging in from Thailand. I have around 30k in that account. That's at least 20,000 meals from the market.

This is going to be a shit trip because first I have to go to Canada and then Chicago.... and it is going to be cold.

Since I am going to USA, should I sue ?

Not enough money to make a special trip. Talk to an acct manager see what's going on and tell him you'll be in to take care of it next time your there. The money's not going anywhere.

It's probably cuz you logged in or used your card from Thailand. It's happened to me a few times. Not a big deal, just gotta let them know ahead of time of your travel plans.

The thing is I need this account active for deposits. They even disabled deposits.

Doesn't sound good. I'd find out what's going on before I showed up, find out what paperwork they need and go in prepared.

They probably reached an incorrect conclusion, like you have some shady internet dealings, no connection with the US and are holed out in some third world country dodging tax.

    Oh, wait...

Prepared means armed with docs that they haven't even asked for but might if the person you're dealing with is having an off day. Much like LoS.

Just watch and wait then...they might offer you a million dollars if you'll show up at a named branch at a specified time.

    Jaysus,

That sounds pretty ridiculous that you have to travel all the way to Chicago to prove you're who you are.

I assume you set up this account in person, as you have to.

You have the online username and password I assume.

You don't do online banking, but just make withdrawals?

...you're sure US immigration authorities will let you in then...avoid using Serbian until safely across the border...then again, are you sure they'll let you out?...
