There's a lot going on in this thread...And a lot of it has to do with change...And that "advances" learning...
Yes, some of it can be trite...That's quite clear...But it can often generate a greater understanding...
As stated earlier, I've incorporated "mate" into my international "lexicon"...I occasionally use "eh?" as a Canuck...Mainly when we Canucks joke to each other about that international "stereotype"...The closest the Yankees have is "huh?"...Gawd, love 'em...What you learn when you travel...
I like the word "cheers"...
And I still find, sometimes, it's easier to say "I love you" in another language...
