Umm Kalthum .. was it the length of the song that was the deciding factor? She sang some very long songs.

I think he used to be a member here (as did his nemisis Galt) until he got tired of having the piss taken out of his weeklys.

Like marrying a "good girl" and sneering at anyone also not married to a hi-so, who turns out to be a total ratbag with a major gambling problem, and the whole charade comes to an abrupt end when debt collectors with scant regard for people's health started knocking on his door?.

Quite frankly I'm surprised Paul the Tefler didn't do a column on the whole event, a lot of people knew the full story but he's so good with words it would have been fascinating reading .

A Thai man and a tourist got involved in a heated dispute on the MRT Friday afternoon that would have seen them come to blows if another passenger hadn’t stepped in two separate the pair.
It all started after the tourist bumped another passenger with his luggage and for the hot-headed Thai man, his apology wasn’t enough so he let loose on the tourist with a tongue lashing, telling him at one point, “Go your f**king country”

In gay pub toilets do Thai men give out massages while you're pissing? Or is that just a straight blokes thing?

    Always wondered about this

On Koh Chang hippie bar I was rinsing my hands, a Thai bloke starts massaging the shoulders, puts his arm round my neck from behind, lifted me a few inches off my feet, shook my back and clicked all my vertabre out. My spine felt lighter, like I'd just shed a years worth of lower back pain.

Never found another bloke in a toilet like him ever again.

I heard this from an expat NGO director: he claims a number of beers and an engaging personality encourage all sorts of interesting behavior...never had the patience myself...
