Why don't earphones stay in my ears?

It's fcuking frustrating. I buy the snazziest earphones (or 'smalltalk' in Thinglish') from Pantip Plaza to use with my mobile phone or laptop.

But will the earpieces stay in my ears?

    No chance.

I push them into my ear canals - they drop out.

I try a screwing motion with the earpieces, to force them into the inner reaches of said canals. Now my ear drums are close to being ruptered by the sound of Dig Doggy Dog Dog thumping out his rather amazing beats.

No worry - the damn things self-eject from my ears within a few seconds.

Is there a trick to keeping earphones attached to ears? Superglue??

Yeah...We haven't evolved enough to figure that one out, yet...Unless it's your ears, Simon...

Start by placing the tips in your ears and pushing them in just a little bit. Then, use both hands to seal them up. For your left ear, reach up with your right hand and grab your left earlobe. Pull the lobe downwards a little to widen your ear canal. Then, use your left index finger to gently push the tip further into your ear. Don’t shove it all the way in, but far enough to where you feel the seal. Finally, let go of your earlobe. Your ear canal returns to its normal size, and you’ll feel the seal tighten. Now do the same for your other ear.

I'm like you Simon... perhaps we just don't dig-iddy having things inserted into our holes... our virgin orifices are repulsing foreign invaders - not sucking them in like ear sluts...

You should have 3 different sizes of the rubber grommet that goes in your ear try fitting a different one.

Huh?? Rubber grommets?? They never included those when I bought the earphones from Pantip.

    Fcuking rip-off, scamming sales guy.......

Can I not fashion a grommet out of a condom or something?

Have the same problem as Simon.

Gave up and got some wireless ones that look like dustbin lids.

All good, except I feel like a wally walking around with them.

Sure some of the older British generation start shitting themselves when they see me in public because I also resemble a Cyberman from the old school Doctor Who.

Picture of me in Koh Chang last year.

    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

The Samsung phone earplugs are a good shape that hooks into your ear.

These were the best sports headphones ever produced.

    Sony MDR-W08L

They were the ones that came standard with cassette walkmans in the 90s.

They sounded great and replacements were cheap as chips ($10-$15) so you could afford to lose/break them frequently.

They wouldn't come loose running/cycling whatever.

Unfortunately Sony discontinued them about 5 years ago.

There are a few threads on the tinternet lamenting their demise and searching in vain for a worthy replacement.

You can still buy old stock on ebay but their rarity has increased the price 10 fold.

    Simon,

Pull you ear back and away from your head with opposite hand when installing and push firmly.

Get some wet wipes and give inside your ears a wipe before inserting.

    Might work.

    Or

They will stay in your ears when you have grown a bit of earwax.

    I get the same dilemma
You got some different sized rubber covers for them?

Put the biggest ones on and they should fit in.

If not you'll have to use the full sized ones and sweat while you walk around in the heat.
