The 'horror stories' you read are not really surprising because the people involved have upset the balance of danbo's equation. This is an algebraic formula I came up with in which the parameters are formed from the various wants/needs of either party in a relationship represented by values from 1 to 5. If the result of the equation is balanced to a defined degree then the partnership will work, else it is doomed to failure. I'm pretty sure that it is foolproof and if I can remember any of the details I will publish them here.

A close friend of mine is in the process of acrimonious divorce from his bar girl wife of 3 years.
They had nothing in common from day one and try as she might she couldn't stop herself from malingering around bars till the early hours. This in spite of moving way up the social and financial ladder. It can't simply be about money as she was clearly dissatisfied in spite of having plenty of it, possibly for the first time ever. strictly speaking she was on to a good thing.
Unfortunately, she had bar girl writ large all over her. My mate was embarrased to take her to any social functions, embarrased of her demeanour, her smoking, her drinking, her tattos.
By the same token, she was uncomfortable in those social circles, once walking out of a univerrsity bar within 3 minutes of arriving.
So many reasons why these rellies don't work.
Since seperating 2 months ago, she has had about 7 blokes that she has introduced to me as her boyfriend, been down South on a couple of jollies, Bangkok and Hua hin also.
They can't and won't change.

Women (other than TBGs) in other countries are more concerned about the way their companion dresses, looks, his weight etc etc. A lot of guys in Bangers Khaosan / patpong scene are overwieght, old as fook, dress badly, shabby etc etc but still manage to develop relationship cos bar girls don't mind that as long as they''re a mobile ATM!
Its not that I'm judging these guys - its an observation, a real one. These guys can't find a relationship back home cos of their apperarance, weight etc etc but LOS girls can still accomodate them.

If you like hangin out in bars, partying 'till the wee hours, like your beer/whiskey/weed or whatever, you can find a marriable bar-girl. if you like tea wth the jones', upper-class cocktail parties, sitting around the house or 'puttering around the garden' hooking up with a bar-girl is a sure reciepe for disaster. Isn't this just common sense?
Lot of guys come here from more sedate backgrounds and think these girls want out; out of the poverty, out the bar scene. They're half right. if the girls didn't like to party to drink and stay up late they would have found different work. These guys show up and think they'll rescue the 'poor lass' becausue she really wants out. Yeah she wants out alright; out of peddling her ass or slingin' beers all night for pennies; but out of the society of the bar? NO-FUCKING-WAY.
It's not about bar-girl/not bar-girl thing man, it's about the level of common interests. I've said it before; I've met some real good folks working in the bars, ones i'd enjoy spending alot of time with, but I know in the end, I am just interested in being a part of the 'bar society;' out the out all night, every night. I much more enjoy a quiet evening with a couple of friends over some food, drinks and conversation.
After the novelty wore off, this would bore the shit out of most bar-girls I know. That 97.3% figure sounds just about right
