Except the UK goes one step further and does not recognise an EU citizen card from any EU country except the UK. That means my wife, a third national, who is a German resident with an EU card can travel anywhere in the EU (not just Schengen) but not the UK without a separate visa. There is no longer a marriage visa per se, instead it is a visa to join your partner in the UK. BUT I am not resident in the UK so can't apply....Lucky to still have a few relatives to visit...

However, the UN Convention on The Rights of a Child does stipulate that every child should have access to a relationship with both parents.
