The reality TV series Alone, on the History Channel, follows 10 people who try to outlast each other for a grand prize of $500,000. The contestants are left out in the Patagonia wilderness with 10 items of their choice (along with some additional items, like a toothbrush

) and must provide for their own shelter and sustenance (there are wild boars and fish but also Pumas, who hunt game larger than humans). The ten were whittled down from 2000 applicants so their survival skills are much stronger than the avg person but how they bear the psychological adjustment to living completely alone (and having to film the experience) is completely unpredictable. This year the first tapped out on day 2. But based on the previous two seasons the winner will prolly spend at least two months alone in the wild. It's quite interesting to see how they cope as well as how they survive.
