^ ^I tried to bribe a copper at a road stop near there once with a five hundred baht note for wearing no helmet...and the copper started shouting about colluption and called his mates over.
Loads of Thais were flying past on scooters with no helmets and left be.

I told them I was just trying to pay the fine on the spot and they just took my Thai licence and gave me a ticket.

    Straight bastards

I was impressed by those cordless Sawzall things that people here seem to have, so on my last visit to the store I stopped when I chanced to see some, Dewalt or Stanley or something. I think the saw cost about Baht 4.5K, which seemed pricey. Then I realized that did not include a battery. The battery, it turned out, was another B 2.5K. For a battery? "Yes, buy me, then you are my bitch for life because I only fit my own brand of tools, you'll have to buy a shed load of my brand. 555"

Then I saw this cordless reciprocating saw at a bargain price, so on impulse I bought it.

I have to suck these Chinese balls....

In an exercise to improve my lung function, I purchased this little spirometer. It's actually called an Incentive Spirometer. The incentive presumably is that by exercising your lungs with it you won't die prematurely. Basically, there are 3 balls in 3 tubes and you inhale to try to lift the balls to the top of each tube. One ball is easy, two is more difficult and then three requires the most inhalation.

You just need to imagine that the 3 shiny balls belong to 1.5 ladyboys and then suck as hard as you can.

On my first sucking attempt I sucked two balls to the top of the tube, and the third was quite difficult but achievable. So I'm happy with that and will continue to suck these LB balls every day until it becomes second nature!

The only way to get good value with cordless is to buy the set. The sets usually come with a good assortment. Who doesn't need a drill and a rechargeable flashlight..

And if not then something with a cord will be cheap. But not as cheap as that

My old "non-sick" sandwich toaster has gradually become less non-stick to the point where when trying to liberate the toasty last time it was reluctant to let go half the toasty and i ended up with something that Chitty would have been proud of. It has been retired in favour of.....

It comes from diners which have a grill...

Unfortunately we also call the BBQ a grill as well so that can get confusing for those who are IQ challenged.

You would think that someone who claims to have visited America would know such things.

American cheese. It is an excellent melting cheese, just ask chitty and dilly. Again, someone who has visited America would know this.

That said, you will not get an argument out of me regarding English Cheddar. I love them and currently have two in my fridge along with some Kerrygold reserve.

I had a pulled beef toasted sandwich tonight, I was careful not to overfill it. Very tasted after 4 pints of Guinness.

The months old crispy bits from the contraption were the piss de resistance.

Literally just delivered! A pressure cooker ordered from Ikea (thought it a safer bet than those probable Chinese versions on Lazada). Never used one before, and the primary reason is inspired by the pulled pork threads.

I'm busy reading the instructions, and M'Sahib, being something of a smart ass, showed me a YouTube video of the unboxing and operation of the very item just received!

    quite, made in minutes.

The only issue i find is that you cannot cook say a casserole in one with all ingredients together as the carrots end up too soft, you have to cook once for the meat and onion, pressure release and then cook again for a shorter period for carrots, potatoes etc. They are great for cooking meat quickly leaving it tender and moist.

    edit

possible sacrilege but you can cook ribs in the cooker til tender and then finish on the grill - cuts the cooking time and they are always fall off the bone

So I believe, which is going to be it's primary life. I use a Le Creuset casserole pot for things like beef bourguinon with its carrots and onions.
