Must be the half box of Peter Vella that stopped me from shaking.

The detail is really good even with the stock eye pieces, will have to get a lunar map with the names of the craters and valleys, where they pretended to land, that sorta thing.
Get that bewt fired up tomorrow night for the perigee-syzygy

'Extra-super Moon' to brighten sky on November 14, NASA astronomers say - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

It will probably look like any other full moon but will actually be the closest full moon until 2034

Yeah, I just had little Luigietta outside looking at the Moon, Mars and Venus.

The star tracking software that comes with it is really amazing. About a trillion times better than Google Night Sky or whatever.

We took the telescope out last night as it was finally clear, but I moved it away and told her I couldn't find the Moon as it was too bright, so bright it almost damaged my own bladdy eyes.

Surprisingly enough Full moons aren't actually good for telescopes as the features are all washed out and there's no shadowing. I think that I read the best time is 5 or 6th 8ths of a full moon as the shadows really highlight the craters and the brightness doesn't blind you.

Mars is a bit disappointing in it, I'm waiting to see Saturn and the rings, apparently it should be able to make out the Cassini Division which is the main visible division between the sets of rings, and Jupiter, we should be able to see the 4 Galilean moons - Io, Callisto, Europa and Ganymede rotating about it, as well as the main bands of the planet.

Nah, its true. Full moons are not that good.

There are some new smart-scopes out with some clever tracking software. You point your mobile phone camera at the sky and the scope works out your position on the earth. You can then type the name of any star into the mobile app and the scope will rotate and point at it. handy if you take your scope travelling.

    I still do everything manually.

^^^ I agree, it's like self-driving cars. They get you to the destination but where's the fun. Trying to find it, finding it, then losing it again, bruising your toes off the wall, before finding it again is half the joy.

^^ Bet it still told the time.

    Foking Beer O'Clock eh.

Use them at work to shut everyone else out when busy and bloody marvellous on the return trip to BKK. Slept like a baby and woke up as if I had slept rather than in the usual daze...

Not sure about that, but I'll take the compliment.

Now that I see it I might as well ask.

It's about as fast as Seekingasylum on a Pattaya footpath. It says up to 2.16 GHz. I think it's 1.6GHz at the moment. What's the story with updating the processor? I've added extra RAM before, am a bit of an expert with the hoover and the babywipes, but have never changed out a processor. Or actually seen one. Simply buy a processor that happens to be 2.16GHz, open it up, give it a bit of a babywiping while swapping out the processors?
