I will be heading down to RCA at around 10pm - anyone have good bar recommendations?

Good luck pulling down there grandpa, 2 of the bars, are friggin lesbian bars The only time I've gone to RCA is to take my kids go karting.

Maybe it's changed now?

You are either much, much younger than i assumed, or you are in for a loooong tedious, frustrating night.

I promised wifey I would take her there. She is getting all dressed up as we speak.

^ There is, you can just park her in the somtam shop next to Tops and have a good time.

Take your missus down Thong Lor mate. I highly recommend Iron Fairies. They have some good bands in there, tell them you want the V.I.P room. It's right above where the band plays and the only stipulation is that you have to spend 3,000 baht on booze or was it 5,000 baht anyway it's a great way to spend a night. It's quite dark and quirky in there and stinks like an ironmongers buts it's cool I think.

Fat Guts is good and close by too with a band too.

If your missus wants to go dancing after, go down to Soi 10 and between Thong Lor and Ekkamai there's a couple of lively nightclubs with mainly hi so Thais and not kids like RCA.

There's also a nice Thai bar on Soi Ekkamai behind where Durty Nelly's used to be. A lot of of Thai superstars go in there, my missus made a bit of a scene in there one night screaming at and wai-ing one suktar. I thought she was gonna suck him off for a while, anyway that also has a band and is open after the clubs shut

Fair enough. But you need to consider whether taking her to a place where she will be surrounded by younger models is actually a good idea.

Whatever, have a nice evening, and lie like a dog about how she looks comparatively.

Thx for all advice, but she wants to see RCA, I cannot change her mind as a friend told her to go there and Thais are always right.

She will be pissed after 3-4 drinks and I will move her onto pastures new.

I was saved by the taxi driver, he told wifey that RCA was all techno, so she miraculously changed her mind and we had him take us to Dil's suggestion Thong Lor.

Unfortunately I could not remember the names of his recommendations and started in
"Bottoms Up" - upmarket very Thai orientated, not a bad joint, played faring music but shit acoustics depending upon where you sat.

I then continued to "Di Vinos" - Italian wine bar quite sedate, I settled for the Peroni's as it would have stuck in my throat to pay through the nose for their average Italian wine. It was more of an eaterie than a bar and as you know eating is cheating so-

Next stop, next door to House of beer, much more lively many faring and a live band. Very busy had a few and moved onto -

"Iron Fairies" - Dils recommendation. I know now, - packed out had to stand near bar, music was fairly sedate - jazz, but definitely the pick of the bunch - had a couple of cocktails would have been much better if we were part of a group. Anyway by this time wifey had had her fill of posing and wanted to head for bed.

I am heading to Ko Chang tomorrow, I will be staying at Kai Bae Beach - any recommendations for good bars things to see there?

Fooking rubbish night out...Just got back from Lao where we went to At Home and tried to talk while the "music" pounded through yer breastbone...Fun to watch the youngsters shatter their eardrums...Rave comes to mind, for sure...

Landmark in Nana can be fun, but overpriced drinks and you might have to put up with some stupid old farang singing My Way...Country Road has live bands and the best atmosphere for a hole-in-the-wall bar which will only last a year or two before it's gone...
