He will have to take the kid in person into the Embassy in order to get the kid a US passport. If the Embassy Consular section folks (who do this every day) don't think the kid looks half-Caucasian, they can insist on a DNA test (which is not cheap) before granting a passport.

I know this as I had a friend (oil worker) who was denied a passport for 'his' kid. After days of screaming and bitching, he got the DNA test done as he already had plane tickets.

I think we've been over this before, Freddy. You can apply for the permit, but all that gives you is permission to build (hint: that's why it's called a permit), not ownership.

The only other document where a house can be 'put in your name' is an application form for a house book; you fill out the form yourself so you can "put" anything you like in it, including 1 London or 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. That doesn't make them yours. You then give the form to the local amphur, and because your name can't be in the house book as a resident your application will be turned down.

This is what's meant by denying reality, Freddy.

You don't get "marriage papers at the US embassy"; all you get is documentation you take to the MFA after having had a certified translation. You don't seem to recall what those "papers" were, even though they were in English which is a little odd (or a little sad). Without the correct papers at each step your marriage isn't valid.

There is no "amphur on Chang Wattana". The MFA is on Chaeng Wattana; the nearest amphur is probably Bang Na.

You can't register a marriage at the US Embassy, it has to be done in your State.

I've met a few, like Davis' friend, who either don't care as they want the full family "package" deal anyway, or who just accept it as being better (or less worse) than the alternative.
