Basic fundamentals for me are: good usecase, seed funding from established businesses, references from respected authorities.
Looking into the storage coins a bit deeper atm, if the technology is successful won't expect it to get established, and profits realised, for a few more years.
hold your bitcoin cash - it has just been listed on coinbase so it will spike - and one of the reasons for the decline in BTC

After months of rumors, it's official: Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is coming to Coinbase.
A blog post on Tuesday has officially confirmed what many have been speculating for months: Bitcoin Cash—a fork of the Bitcoin blockchain—is headed to popular cryptocurrency brokerage Coinbase, effective as soon as there is "sufficient liquidity" on GDAX.
Users will be able to buy, sell, send, and receive Bitcoin Cash on the platform.
This follows a recent surge in price in BCH. Following the announcement, Bitcoin plunged by 12 percent, dropping below $17K, while BCH jumped several hundred dollars, clearing the $3K mark. The current listed price on CoinMarketCap is $3,387.54.

They suspended trading on BCH on coinbase cause they couldn't keep up, hence the big drop back down.
Sweet, cheers Baldy.
What I put into BCH yesterday has almost doubled, put in more today.
To the moon!!!!!
What could go wrong?
Just open an account and climb on board...
My wire literally just processed. Starting to realize I haven't really formulated a gameplan yet.
Since I have to buy into bitcoin first, and its dropping at a pretty good clip, I feel like that gives me some time to assess.
Plan: Buy bitcoin on gdax, move it over to binance, convert it into half btc cash and half alts. Sound reasonable?
Still trying to decide on the alts
diarrhea in your spacesuit ?
A lot of the coins besides BTC Gold and Bitcoin cash seems to be correcting down over the last few hours. Might wait to see where things stand in the morning before making any moves
So I transferred my wire to gdax, and was all set to buy some bitcoin cash as my first investment. And what do you know, trading has been suspended. FML.
I don't even want to hold bitcoin at this point as a first time buy with how fast its plummeting. Seems like waiting until morning is going to be the course of action here. Bummed I can't get in on BTC now though.
Bitcoin looks to break below 16k any minute now...
Speaking of the devil, so I went ahead and purchased a grand worth of bitcoin on gdax. Transferred it over to binance. Nothing there. Read on the internets that I should have purchased a different coin because bitcoin transfers are slow as fuck. FML. Guess I'm stuck holding bitcoin.
And that's assuming I did it all correctly. No confirmation codes, no nothing. Money just goes off the screen and disappears into fat air. A little unsettling.
probably a better buy anyway
I wonder if you are confusing yourself ? do you have the front page on USD and the alts you are exchange paired followng are paired with ETH or BTC ? so the dip in ETH and BTC causes the dollar amount to drop but the difference between the pairs is not the same percentage as the dollar drop in value
I did indeed. Its weird though, I don't even see a record of the transfer anywhere on gdax. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place....
I did pay a fee of US $2.49 on the $1000 dollar BTC buy on GDAX if that's what you mean snub. 0.25% I thought was pretty ok
