    Thailand Consumer Protection

just to share my experience with the above Department

    i can only say - WOW ....

had an issue with a condo developer where the project is delayed. - long story short.
( if anyone wants the full 'story' - then i may have to write later ) 555

been trying to cancel my order and get back my monies - but there is no way out UNTIL ....

called Bangkok office and they asked me to go to Chonburi

the officer called me in less than a week later to set up a meeting with the owner.

and i got my 1st payment the following week and ALL MY BALANCE - thb 100k by April this year.

the officer assured me that the owner will honor the cheque issued to me.

    well done !!

I have been contemplating getting in touch with consumer protection due to the fact that i have a car three year old in march and still have RED plates. I paid full in cash a bad choice it seems, good to hear you got money back. pete

when one sees the words "officer", "assured", "honour" and "cheque" in the same sentence relating to a refund to a foreigner in thailand, pessimism is the only realistic state of mind to have until the full refund has been successfully trousered.

    Well,

Tax and I rarely agree on any thing on this forum but he has passed a very valid comment in this instance.

Report back when the cash is in the bank please.

I think bouncing cheques in Thailand is a serious offence so you're probably home free.

I had an issue with my Bank making illegal charges, emailed the consumer protection office at CW- no reply, wrote to them, no reply, phoned them up said they would call back, never did. Wrote to the bank, no reply, emailed CEO no reply then wrote to him in Thai, no reply, phoned them up, just bullshit nonsense. Bank in UK had no reply form the Bank here. Consumer protection, if you are lucky maybe.

You have to go to the office, they would maybe have called the bank while you were there if you have a good case.

For people in Bangkok the office is at the goverment complex on Chiang Wattana, upstairs from the Immigration.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all
