Bespoke suits out of the back of a car

So on Focks News they are interviewing this bloke who sells bespoke suits out of the back of smart cars.

Apparently they will measure you up on the spot and make you a bespoke suit for only $449.

The cars are plastered with adverts for this revolutionary new service which apparently "New Yorkers love", and they park them in "strategic locations".

So then they asked him where the suits are made.

"They're made in our own production facility" he said.

    "Where's that?" they pressed him.

    "In Thailand".

Reckon they must have a deal with one of those Thingly tailors in Pattaya that sells a suit, a shirt, pants, socks, chastity belt, bow tie, cumberbund and adult nappy for $99.

He was doing so well until that bit.

Do you think someone should tell them?

BookATailor is an innovative pioneer in custom bespoke menswear. We are innovative in that we offer the highest quality at the most affordable prices which lie far below those of our competitors.
    http://www.bookatailor.com/

    Even funnier:

In addition to this, BookATailor is independent in its production which significantly expedites delivery time and has our client’s garments ready in four to six weeks, a significantly shorter time than the industry norm.
I once got measured up for a suit near Panthip at lunchtime and then went on the piss, and it was in my hotel room when I got back in.

Good quality too, would still wear if it if I could shed those extra stone er *cough* er I mean pounds.

I wonder what the waiting time is if they have to come from Thailand ?

When I was in Bangkok in Feb I had 3 trousers and 3 shirts made at Majestic Tailors. Very nice light cotton and fit just right. One thing I like about the place also is the boss does not let his people sit outside trying to drag people in. He told me that is not the policy and he is happy to sell to people who walk in because they want to.

I think you will find a large percentage of Tailors in Thailand have a factory close by to manufacture and the shop is just for contact and delivery. So the back of cars is just a downsizing of office and overheads. Works for me if the price is right, but the price quoted in this article is not a great deal IMO..

And if there's a Thingly involved you know the material well get subbed for something cheaper.

But of course Joe the Plumber has only had a feel of it out of the back of a car and wouldn't be able to prove a thing after a month.

They stopped all that shit in Phuket when the Governor said anyone harassing tourists would be fined Bt500.

Only the Jinglies though, didn't stop the Thais.

I love when you walk out of a tailor shop carrying bags with the shop logo, and the next tailor along the way tries to get you in his shop!

Ah the ole let me feel the fiber of the fabric.
As a connoisseur of the bespoke Mohair tailor, i can whole wholeheartedly concur that Bangkok has some of the best inexpensive tailors on the planet.

My style and a price tag of 4000 baht at Marty's tailors on Suk compared to £800 in the UK..

Jaysus, that is one ugly outdated looking design.

I think that people are confusing cheap made to measure shite with bespoke suits which are entirely different.
A decent bespoke suit even in Thailand would cost $1000 multiply that by 5 for the UK.

    ^Yep that's my style and it's bespoke!

Bespoke tailoring i/biˈspoʊk/ is men's clothing made to an individual buyer's specification by a tailor. The distinguishing points of bespoke tailoring are the buyer's total control over the fabric used, the features and fit, and the way the garment should be made.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bespoke_tailoring

It's a Mod thing, if you don't know then it would take me hours to explain it.
Then with all due respect you probably still wouldn't get it.

I am afraid that you still do not understand bespoke. You are however fully conversant with having a suit made for you in Thailand - made to measure at best certainly not bespoke.

Was yours floating canvas or fused - I will save you the time it was the latter.
Please study what bespoke really means.

At the prices you were talking can I suggest you take a little sample of the mohair and wool cloth you were offered and light it with a match. - the black smoke you see is the plastic burning. Please do not believe the little lie swatch in the book.

I am fully aware of the mod style, but you are right in 2015 I do not get it.

They gave you an off-the-shelf suit close to your size, knowing full well you wouldn't know.

They take the orders on Sukhumvit. Then they take the order to any available sweatshop in Khlong Toei.

The rate for the tailors for a 3-piece suit (labour) is about 2500bt (max - some charge a lot less). The material (which comes from Sam Peng in China Town) costs between 500bt for shit material up to about 2000bt.

The smugness of a smart arse is a joy to behold.

Except you don't know my tailor and you didn't read what I wrote either.

    Fuckwit.
