Pure bread Irish from Leith?
Oi, Marchmont thank you very much!! Now my address is Ravelston/Murrayfield. Or my mum's is.
^
Patsy have you ever thought of going back to Edinburgh? - Ravelston sure sounds better than doing it tough in Swiss land on the Nat King Cole!
Since when have you ever heard of any offspring of parents returning "home" when they are over the age of 50 and it all being hunky dory? I haven't lived in Edinburgh for 26 years, i would have to start again.
I am doing very well, where i am. Thank you very much.
And the Nat King Cole is ok. It has taught me how to budget. And occasionally there is a wee push from Edinburgh which comes in handy. And i live fifty metres from the lakeside.
Also, perhaps the parent doesn't want the offspring to take over her life and tv remotes. And wanting to install wifi and all the shebang. And start clearing out cupboards that should have been cleared out decades ago. I found her mink coat last summer!! And she lives 15 minutes walk from the nearest pub or ciggie shop. Which is a big no no for me. And if i ever went to the pub - the phone would ring non stop.
No, it's good the way it is. A week or two together twice a year is enough. I do love her though. Apart from the fact that she took my sister on the Carribean Cruise a couple of years ago and not me. We are fine. And we have a good laugh. And i want to keep it that way.
There's always the "favorite!" No problem if you're the favorite one however...:)Quote:

No, in my family the money shall be three ways - me, my sister and my brother. That has been and shall be always.
No sibling shite with us. I nor she nor he are the favourite. And that is how it is.
Soda bread. love it.
And there is no way anyone can go against my mums will. it is done and sealed and dusted. But that doesn't stop one of us getting nasty. But i hope we don't.
But, she is going to outlive us all, so who really cares-
That's what we had, a trust, run by my sibs as executors and beneficiaries.
I was o/seas, not on the spot to deal with crooked lawyers and kin.
Too bad.
I get on with life and look forward, but sometime, just sometimes I look back,....in anger,...it's not worth it though.
^Wash your mouth out!
Yeh!
Eat the rich! :bananaman:
Hoo dafwk actually wants to work?
Nobody.
Half the people work for a living and the other half let them...well done there Patsycat...1/3 of nothing is going to be div'ied up you say????give us a call...
60%< of world population ain't got no job nor adequate welfare.
And yet we keep on procreating like rats in China, India and Africa...ask them to slow down ENT....that'll cure the welfare state...Chinese consider you are above the line of poverty if you earn over $1.75/da. Go figure that one on your abacus will ya?Quote:

About ten years i haven't worked, or i have temping for about a week here and there. I also babysit friend's kids for nothing, feed dogs cats etc. while their parents are away. They pay me in food and drinks.
But, thinking back about going back to Edinburgh. There is no way i would be able to go on the nat king there. I haven't worked there in 30 years, i haven't paid taxes. Plus the point is that i live in a non EU country, and the weather is nicer here. I got a bit of a tan yesterday.
We have a black sense of humour in our family, and dying comes into it and laughing about it comes into it. Obviously, when it happens it is devastating and we pull through like most families. It is never a joke to lose a loved one, it floors you. But there is always a smile and memories. My dad died 13 years ago, there is never a day passes that i don't think about him or talk about him. And i remember his voice.
Don't forget that when my husband died i got his life insurance, without that i would never have gone to Thailand and fallen in love with it. And Terry, of course!!
Holy crap . . . https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2009/07/236.jpgQuote:
