    Family tree

I got this inspiration from the lieutenants post, about having your posthumous mug shot posted on here, and got to thinking.... one day your great and great great grandchildren, with only today's technology of Google images, could find every post you ever made on here. But not just here, facebook will always be the first go to place for your lineage.

To be honest, I think it's a good thing and I would love to be able to track back and find that much information and see written dialogue and a host of photos stored away of what one of my grandparents were like, but I get lost at only 2 generations but found a cousin

Anyone had any joy tracing their family tree?

And do you care about how you are gonna be portrayed over Xmas dinner in the year 3000 ?

So, if my death is not sudden I should take a mental note to remove privacy settings?

Or my dying words could be my password.

Maybe stick it in the will.

My cousin has traced our family history.

Apparently I have the blood of a nasty old soap dodger who shagged his cousin, stole a loaf of bread and then received a free ride out to Australia.

I must be related to DJ Pat huh.

In idle moments after retiring I traced the family tree back to 1702.
We have a common Irish surname but unusual spelling and a family name equally unusual which popped up in most generations (my grandson has it).
I tried this 30 years ago - computers now make it comparatively a snap.
The Irish meticulously recorded births and deaths as the parishes were funded on a per capita basis.
Immigration records in Australia, USA and South Africa were also helpful.

I hope that gives you nightmares, disrespecting the brains in your lineage!

What were the other family lines, chavs, pikey's niggas, perchance?

Ah, right. Family tree . . . Yes, it's an old one, started in the late 1930s and just keeps getting added to - goes back to the 1600s.

I heard about one of your ancestors :

‘Terence Turkey, horse thief, sent to Melbourne Gaol 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Melbourne-Geelong train six times. Caught by Victoria Police Force, convicted and hanged in 1889.’

But the family history guy who wrote it up put some spin on it :

“Terence Turkey was famous in Victoria during the mid to late 1800s. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Melbourne-Geelong Railroad.

Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad.

In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the Victoria Police Force. In 1889, Terence passed away during an important civic function held in his honour when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed.”

I heard about yours, you told us your father was Italian and your mother was Welsh Irish.

North or South Wales, and/or Cork or Dublin derived ?

There must have been a strong Catholic component in there too, as both Italy and Ireland being staunch Catholic countries at the time,..... and Wales had its little Catholic community too, in a sea of non-conformism.

I'm Welsh, with Irish, Cornish, Breton, Basque, Tokarian, Armenian, Brythonic and Pictish ancestry/lineages with a good 3% Neanderthal.

    No Saxon ancestors.
