A new art installation in Paris has sparked a furore due to its resemblance to a sex toy.
The giant inflatable structure on Place Vendôme has caused such a stir that Paul McCarthy, its American creator, was reportedly attacked in the street by an angry Parisian.
Mr McCarthy told Le Monde that the 24-metre tall work – entitled Tree – was inspired by both a sex toy and a Christmas tree.
But so outraged was one citizen about the new addition to the French capital, that he approached the artist, slapped him in the face and told him the piece had "no business being on the square".
