    Bad Van Man!

I know some will say don't react, you're putting yourself in more danger by doing so.

This morning about half a click from Thai Belgian Bridge, a lowlife in his old van wanted to come into the lane i was in with no indication. I was on my bike and in front another motor cyclist. At this point the van and I are side by side. So, rather than put myself in danger I accelerated to overtake the bike in front giving room for the van. If you know TB bridge there are four lanes if i remember. As I approach the bridge I could see the van speed up but he looked like he was going to turn right, but what he did was cut 2 lanes crossing to the left hitting the side of me. It looked intentional for whatever reason. I saw red gave chase and pointed a few fingers with a final slap of his mirror as I passed. As I turned left to run down the side of the part, I approached the lights, on red to head toward CW. I stopped my bike in front of a car just in case e followed trying to rear end me. He did, stopped his van and threw something at me hitting my back. I got off my bike walked over while he frantically winds his window up before I punched it. We are exchanging words which is totally pointless as I have my helmet on. I gave him signals by pointing to my bike as to what he did. He's still mouthing off until I showed him the camera on my helmet. He quickly shut the fuck up..

I'm as polite as the next guy, but when someone intentionally tries to force me off the road it's a different matter. You hear of people getting shot in these situations, but in the heat of the moment it is hard not to react. I've walked away and shrugged my shoulder from some things on the road, but this got my back up.

I'm still pumping as I type this.

Be careful mate- hard not react to these clowns but this is exactly how people are killed in "accidents" as well you know.

So, you don't actually know how many lanes either, yet you were there ?

So he came into contact with you near the bridge? If someone hit me and kept going, I'd be incensed, but if he only came close I would have let it go- you're too vulnerable on a bike.

I know the TB bridge but too much shorthand for me to form a mental picture. he was peed off because you accelerated away rather than give up the space for him?

Seems so. I just got out of is way, simple as! His tires were crossed over the line, I'm at his door side and took off.

Could he tell you were a farang? That is usually enough to cause a mortal insult to the local driver and rightfully he will try to kill you. It's Thai Culture! You've been here long enough to know you were asking for it.

Besides, that road there is a monumental fuck up. On the left you have all the flag waivers with whistles blocking the road for an hour so one fuckwit who can not drive can enter the road. This is along with all the other fuckwits who think that parking there is a good idea, often double parked because 7/11 is so important and walking more than 3 meters is just not acceptable to the locals. The second lane is full of arseholes who really want to go over TB bridge, but think they will make traffic run smoother if they wait until the last minute to cut across the other 2 lanes at the last minute rather than sensibly joining the cue. Like wise drivers on the outside (4th lane) who really want to turn left at Q House mostly think that it is best practice to stay in the right hand lane until the last minute and then cut left across three lanes of traffic so that they can keep moving for as long as possible before making everyone else stop and wait for them. Added to this you have the people on the inside 2 lanes not going up the bridge doing the same, those on the left really turning right up wireless road, and those in the right really turning left or stopping at the MRT for 30 minutes to let their simpering passengers out. If this was not enough, it is a favourite place for the useless cops to put road blocks and tea money collection spots as well.

I would recommend you keep a snooker ball in a sock tucked inside your jacket so that next time rather than tapping their mirror you can cave their side and front windows in without missing a beat and no bloody way you should stop at the red lights.

If the van driver ran over you resulting in your death, how easy would it be for police to splice in a section of helmet cam film, proving that a Burmese construction worker did it.

The perception of most Thai drivers is that you will give way to avoid an accident. Too many of these chancers drive on the edge taking advantage of this perception. It is infuriating for those who learned their road craft in a more civilised environment.

Might is right on Thai roads,

In hindsight, you should have either dropped back to let him in, or kept an eye in your mirror after pissing him off and stayed the fuck out of his way .

Why didn't you drag him out of the van and give him a pasting? Are you some kind of poof?

Indeed it's rather hard to maintain the stiff upper lip when someone's trying to kill you.

" I say! You there! This simply just isn't cricket! I suggest we pull in at the nearest layby, I'll crack the Earlgrey thermos, and we'll discuss the issue."

It's a tough scenario to deal with: best case; you drag the offending motorist from his vehicle, beat him like a ginger step-child, recieve mulitple blow jobs from random stunners for your heroics, and arrive home in time for a nice bowl of lamb stew.

Worst case: you get shot in head

Probably just best to get the bts

Providing a little self-vengeance and retribution.

And then do battle with the car behind for slowing them down! What I did was correct for myself and in the event he genuinely hadn't seen me. I was riding my Kawasaki and accelerated away in a steady manor.

Fuckit, it's been and gone, but I'm too red-blooded to let these things go when it involved intentional contact. If the guy had gotten out of his van I wouldn't have hesitated to twat him, regardless of the consequences. 99% of the time I would walk away from most things.

Chill out Jackson!! There is much danger out there. Keep yor head down and yor powder dry.
Engaging these fukwits on their level is more often than not a losing game. I know from experiences I defer from sharing.
Just say you were lucky the situation didn't escalate with weapons, violent injury, and hospital bills or death.
