I reckon it's the testosterone driven teenager, nearly completely mad for sex and re-assurance that looks to an older (mother substitute/authority figure) female, such as a teacher that's the main driver in these cases.

Younger guys going for older women are either spoiled, or are only kids in a family, or are socially isolated/deprived, or have been neglected by their (often inadequate) mothers in a dysfunctional family environment at some earlier point in their lives.

The guys are basically immature, and can't develop a same age/peer level relationship easily, so look for a safe (no competition), nurturing relationship with an older woman.

If that happens (usually an old male prof.), the uni will treat the student's work as suspect if the prof. concerned is fostering her work, and the prof/tutor will also be treated with suspicion, as a pariah, as he's supposedly her mentor, or at least of the age to be such.

Off campus, things can be different, as long as academic standards aren't jeopadised.

Anway, at 19 yoa, the (male or female) student's no longer a child, but a young adult, and is expected to be able to make reasonable decisions regarding his/her choices of sexual partners.

Get around any uni accommodation/ flatting district and you'll find hoards of horny students doing some unbelievable antics as they've usually escaped from the parental clutches for the first time,....so woooppeee!
