After flipping through the field guide 'Birds of Thailand' twice I was going to suggest Oriental Pratincole but I see Patrick gave the right answer. Here a clear photo of the differences between the 2 species.
It's a rare South African Tree Climbing Duck which will only lay it's eggs in a half a kerosene tin lined with old Bing Crosby records.
