Just curious about whiskey aficionados. Do they not drink to get intoxicated?
No, they mainly drink to feel pompous.
Orange juice...
Bottles of 10 and 12 year old single malts makes one an aficionado?
Stick to your Blend 2896745 you peasants!
Actually I prefer the term "Pleasantly anesthetized" instead of intoxicated. 555. But to your point, the idea is to take the edge off and relax however one wants to do it. I have found that the better quality liquor the better it tastes hence the more enjoyable it is and no need to add god awful mixers with sugar to cover it up.Originally Posted by Sumbitch
I was not much of a Scotch-Whiskey-Bourbon drinker until I had a few good ones. I actually prefer Tequila. Not your rot gut Jose Cuervo Gold or Hornitos crap but special cask Anejo's from Herradura, Dos Artes, Casa Noble, Los Azuelos, etc. The Agave has a different taste grown in different regions, like the Scotch's from Isly versus Highland. They are now complex because they use seasoned oak barrels to let them age. Mixing any of them or "Shooting" any of them is really a waste.
As they say it is an acquired taste. There are some OUTSTANDING Bourbon's and Whiskeys out there now.
the splashing out 200 quid for a bottle and then mixing them with syrup bitOriginally Posted by JPPR2

To each his own I suppose Dill. I have never seen anyone add anything to a nice single malt scotch, even a 10 year Glen. I would ask the question why? I mean I get it if one doesn't like the smell or taste neat but if you are going to mix buy real cheap stuff, like JW. No need to spend on 2k, 3k, 5k baht imported Scotch to add syrup. Same goes for folks that buy a 3K baht bottle of Tequila and make Margaritas
Coffee time here in Mandalay- a nice Shan roast. Aromatic, full of flavour and one hell of a kick.
^ Sounds good...At any hour...
Once sat down with coffee and a bottle of tequila and a good friend...Drinking coffee and doing shooters at noon...Over a rickety old card table...
Well, we were splitting wood, after all...
^ That does look good...Silver-tongued devils, the way they advertise it...
Well done...
