it is and one learns quickly the price you pay for rot gut both as you are dinking it and the morning as you look for the toilet to wretch and various medicine to recover as you sleep all day.

Thailand has no shortage of crap liquor and beer. Look at the locals after a bottle of Lao Khao or that magic Ya Dong.

As for red wine ambient or chilled..... I do not and have not drank wine, red or white. Can't stand the stuff whether 20 years old, 5 years old or boxed. I have enjoyed a good bourbon at a nice meal for years. I sat through the dinner parties where people had to think about which wine goes with what meal. F that. Bourbon is neutral. But again....to each their own.

Usually between 12 and 18c. The fuller the wine, the higher up on those number.

We have an off license/wine shop that I managed for a bit around 20 years ago and was sent on certified evening courses about wines and whiskeys, think level 5 was diploma and official wine master level or whatever the term is, I went to level 2 or 3 before fokin' off to much sunnier and happier climes. After 20 years that's pretty much the only bit of information I retain from them.

Just looked and it was WSET.

Find wine classes and drinks courses | Wine & Spirit Education Trust

Looks like Level 4 is Diploma level, so I would have been Level 2.

If I was back there again and still drinking I'd probably do them again. Why not be interested in, and learn about something you regularly partake in.

Did a re stock today at the pool bar. Only 40c in the shade.

fixed that problem. Turned on the music, grabbed a cold one out of the ice box and reeeeeelaxed.

That jacuzzi is as impressive as your pool.

    Cheers

    Beer.

Icy. Cold. Beer. First time in four plus months.

Actually it isn't icy, isn't cold, and isn't actually that nice.

We had a load of spicy ass chicken for dinner and oddly got a hankering for an icy cold one.

    Went down the 7.
    They only had Thai shite.
Okay, Singha. 4 cans that had obviously just been put in there 5 minutes before.
Ice fridge. One dodgy ass ripped bag left stuck to the bottom, if bags of ice were dogs, this one was Yogi's arsehole.

So, a luke warm glass of crappy Thai beer with big cubes of ice that have hair and crumbs and shiz on 'em.

Oddly enough it doesn't go down half as nice as I remembered.

Wife and I did a Chiang Mai run yesterday to get out of the heat of Lampang..... . Of course no trip there goes without some beer replenishments.

This IPA is really quite good. Chilled well and enjoyed in 42c weather.

After last night's impulsive delve back into the world of toxic poisons, which was rather disappointing to be honest. Decided to put a little bit of planning into having one more wee sip before going back to healthy, blissful toxic-poison-free teetotalism.

The gym guys are going out, but 1, I couldn't be arsed, 2, my tummy's a lil bit delicate after a massive downpouring of 2 liters las night.

United kickoff at 9pm so picked up 4 cans of Tawandang Weizen from the surprisingly well stocked mom n pop shop nearby. Edith is supply me chicken wings.

Seems like mom works for Toyota.

    4.9% toxic poison.

I've like it when out in Tawadaeng, so will see what it's like in can form.

After 4 months without toxic poison, going back to sample some for 2 evenings was interesting. Homemade herbal flower teas are simply better in every single way.

A big flask over ice in the hot season.

    Refreshing: Homemade herbal flower tea.

    Taste: Homemade herbal flower tea.

    Feeling: Homemade herbal flower tea.

    Ingredients: Homemade herbal flower tea.

Sleep, not that it's an issue: Homemade herbal flower tea.

The next morning: Homemade herbal flower tea.

    Health: Homemade herbal flower tea.

Toxic-poisonous alcohol doesn't come close in any regard.

Time to get back on the good stuff. Slice up some lemongrass and ginger, a stick o' cinna... dash of lavender, pinch o' jasmine, spinkle of safflower and maybe go a bit nutzo and add a flick of chamomile. Poured over ice in a big ol' 1 liter flask thingamajig. Perfect.

Going right through but had a lovely, sensible day out yesterday on proper European beer.

Even got the chance to say hello to Eric on me way home

When I was last in Thailand almost 2 Christmases ago, I was paying 100 baht for a pint of Tiger or I could have paid extra for a Hoegaarden at 250 baht a scoop.

One of the things I don't miss about SE Asia is the shit beer.

How the fuck do you open a bottle of wine with a knife?

I'm sure I had nailed it last time I was in this fallow predicament.

Just push the corkscrew down, wait for it to explode like Dil on Beach Road with an Isaan ladyboy, and Somchai's your uncle, no?
