    Heterochromatic Eyes

As it happens, I was not familiar with this term until I bought Archie, my huskey.

So as I was to believe is that heterochromania would be to have 2 different coloured eyes.

Today I studied a little deeper and basically learnt that it a pretty loose term that basically covers any abnormality, (ie. non identical eyes or even identical eyes containing more that one main colour) of the eyes.

It also covers different pupil sized,

different colour from the outside to the inside,

    a red eye (bloodshot)

and a variety of interesting colour schemes and patterns.

Click here for loads more ---> heterochromic eyes

For me, I have many varieties. My pupils are different sizes, my eyes are different colours from each other and they are both varying in colour from the outside in.

Most people don't really notice, but since I got my dog people tend to look at him then look around the table and will pick up on my eyes. I'm on day shift now and someone brought it up and it became a lenghty conversation that ended with everyone asking if they had heterochromia. They are all Asian with perfectly matching eyes.

Anyway, I'm guessing it's fairly common in one way or another. More so in caucasians.

How many of you would say that you have heterochromatic eyes, and in what form?
    Lang may yer lum reek...

    Actually, scratch that:

There are numerous celebrities nowadays who have heterochromia. Some are more famous than others, but all have fascinating eyes. Mila Kunis, Christopher Walken, Kate Bosworth, Dan Akyroyd, Max Scherzer and Jane Seymour all have heterochromia of various types, just to name a few. David Bowie is thought by some to have heterochromia, but in fact has a permanently dilated pupil.

My eyes are quite similar to this:

Blue with a grey/green ring around the pupil. Never knew the name of the phenomenon before.

Beautiful looking pup btw Dirk, love huskies.

Here's my eye after I'd had a nasty Judas punch in a bar, you can see the grey ring and weird patterns:

Looks like a fair skelp you got there. Cool eye colour though.

    Here's mine:

Cheers, Archie's a bit bigger now, almost 4 months and weighed in yesterday at 12.6kg

I always thought it meant different coloured eyes, too. From your description, I guess I do. They are grey/blue, with a yellow ring around the iris and brown flecks in. Gives the impression of them being sea green if you don't look closely.

Mine are blue, grey, greeny. Depends on the weather and also on the colour of clothes i wear.

I also have the "one pupil smaller than the other" thingy. But mine is not as bad as David Bowie. A doctor here told me it happens in one in a thousand people.

Also, when they get a bit blood shot, i can give a mean evil eye!!

Just proves I don't look in the mirror much. I got it wrong (checked after this thread). The irises are yellow with brown flecks with a dark blue ring outside. Don't believe I got that wrong.

When he started this thread, i actually went and had a good look at my eyes!!

I knew about the pupil thing since 20 years. But to really get the colour right, which is why i went for the bluey grey greeny thing!!

And i was bopping my head around to actually see the "real colour" of my eyes- they differ. But that is just the light. I don't have beauuuuuutiful eyes like Archie.

But anyway, great thread and learnt something new.

My eyes were bright blue when I was younger and I'm not too sure what point in my life they became like they are. I guess this is something we may grow out of too:

I have green eyes with a large brown spot in my right one. Someday I'll post a pic where you can see it.
