    Khao San Road so cool

First time ever in Thailand I came with a friend from The Royal Mail,a fellow Postman who had been to Thailand before,so his idea of adventure was staying on Kho Samui in a beach hut far from everyone at Moonhut. A grass roof accommodation with a hole in the floor for toilet, long drop onto the beach sand. He fancied himself as a potential SAS action man,and roughing it on a Samui beach was a start. Then We had to get the flight back to Bangkok ,and it poured with rain,Samui roads became rivers, and Taxis dissappeared,so a Policeman gave us a lift to the airport. The airport was packed with Farang women backpackers and being Daddy,s girls they where used to their pushy ways and wanted My reservation out,yes they demanded My seat. No way,so I got the last flight out late at night and somehow this little prop plane clambered through the black clouds, lightning flashing everywhere and the wind buffeting the plane. Made it to dong Muang and We got a taxi,My mate heads for Khao San Road, even the taxi driver said We should have gone to a hotel near the airport. Exhausted I get to this ROAD that My buddy must show Me. I want to sleep, and Tuk Tuk drivers are shoving pictures of naked girls in front of My face, now tiredness brings anger, I shout at him,"this place is full of fukcd up people" and backpackers doing their movie "The Beach" thing.
Next morning got up early to get back to the airport to get a connecting flight to New Zealand.

Moonhut is still a peaceful location on Maenam beach. Very quiet with a nice clean beach and a rustic beach bar.
The bungalows have plumbing now and they run about 4500 for a 7 night stay.

Booking.com: Moonhut Bungalows , Mae Nam Beach, Thailand - 24 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

Thank you for that up date. Here is My update, when I was there a very old Thai woman owned and ran the place, she died and I believe an English guy bought it,and it is him that then upgraded the resort.
Well like most people who always think the past was the best,My friend was horrified at the improvements and felt that Moonhut had been ruined, his happy memories of rustic living had been destroyed.
My SAS potential mate did join the TA British army and loved it,because being in the Post Office He could go on military exercises at any time without any problems.
Then a Russian whore trapped him into marriage and then every dream he had became a nightmare,he is not allowed near Thailand and She forced the army to discharge him. This is another story for another time.

I'll be on Rambuttri street for New Years Eve drinking dark beer Lao, eating Sushi and thoroughly enjoying the company I'll be with.

Oh yes, great spot to be at the right time.
