As far as Im aware , Pensioners in the UK get a rise in pensions along with inflation, but pensioners living abroad do not get this .
What about the plans to round up the OAP to 140 quid per week?
. . . hmmm . . . our school fees alone are between 280.000 and 400.000 for each of our kids . . .
My breakdown for living in Pattaya is:
Haven't got a clue, but something like 175-250k Baht a month seems to cover costs.
Jesus boys, that seems bloody expensive
Family of 6 living in the UK and we spend a similar amount if not less
The UK State pension is currently 110.15GBP per week or about 477GBP per month.
Most of that will go on food, utilities and council tax. If that is his only source of income he will struggle to survive.
The cost of living in UK is horrendous. His income is below the current tax threshold so he will not pay income tax.
If as you say, he has no housing costs then he is very fortunate but in my opinion, he will still struggle.
Heart of Gold and a Knob of butter.
In Thailand you get no increase. In Philippines you do. Depends on reciprocal agreements between governments.Originally Posted by Fluke
I think if you return to the uk - for a holiday, then it can be updated to its current levels as they prevail at that time.
There are complex residency rules to qualify for the increase. A UK holiday will not get the increase.Originally Posted by Iceman123

When we lived BKK we never spent anywhere near that, in fact thinking about it we spent around 30,000 baht per month and lived well in three bed detached.
You guys must be eating prawns and steaks every night.
40-50k a month for a family of 4 living in Bangkok
No car though
Why not? Does he own property there?Originally Posted by flashbang

I am talking about the difficulty of surviving in the UK today on a low income. In his case, a maximum of GBP477 a month (State Pension). Most of that would go on food, utilities and council tax.Originally Posted by flashbang
UK is an expensive shithole. Because this guy has an income, he is unlikely to qualify for benefits.
Try to stay calm and read carefully.
My friend is intitiatled to the increase in a British pension, even though he lives here full time. Here's how,his money gets payed into a UK bank account, then once a month He does Internet banking and transfers his pension into his Thai bank account.
Simple, don,t inform the Department of work and pensions that you have face off.
Mate, I must warn you: If you want to go toe-to-toe with me in an internet discussion then you will lose. I am the undisputed world champion and I WILL retire unbeaten.
"I'm talking about the difficulty of surviving in the UK on a low income."
Is it not difficult to survive anywhere on a low income? The UK has food-banks and shit — it is full of lazy imbeciles who expect everything on a plate — it can't be the worst place in the world to be a fucking loser, cannit?
I think meat & veg are fairly priced, maybe vaj is not fairly priced. You can get quality food, no question.
"because this guy has an income, he is unlikely to qualify for benefits."
Mate, you've gone loco. The UK is benefit central. I can't even be bothered to discuss this any further, GUFFAW.
