STOCKHOLM — Sweden’s Christmas Goat – a giant decorative goat made of straw and wood – didn’t last long on its 50th anniversary.
The straw goat, an annual Yuletide tradition in the city of Gavle since 1966, went up in flames just hours after it was inaugurated on Sunday.
Arsonists just cannot stay away from the giant decoration, which seldom survives the season without someone trying to burn it down.The local newspaper Gefle Dagblad said it was set on fire late Sunday.

A goat on a rampage in Oamaru has been tasered by police.
Animal control officers were alerted to a "large, rogue goat" that was reported disrupting traffic on State Highway 1 this morning, Fairfax reported.
The beast bolted, bounding over several fences, before the council workers lost sight of it.
Police were then called to a property where the goat had been cornered in a garage by a small dog.
"Unfortunately it was pretty stressed out and quite uncooperative, so I tasered it," Senior Constable Carl Pedersen told Fairfax.
Police, animal control officers and a vet were unable to calm the animal, so it had to be euthanised.

Sheep fingered as father of frizzy-haired goat
KANAN, Osaka Prefecture--When a straight-haired goat gave birth to a frizzy female kid at an animal farm here, accusatory fingers were pointed at a ram.
The World Ranch farm in this city immediately called in a private firm to test the kid's genes.
The suspicions were well-founded. A licentious sheep had mated with the goat.
