Thread: Worst Country You Ever Visited

I really enjoy world travel and have been to over 43 different countries. I generally have always found something I liked about each country, but there was one country that I absolutely regretted going to.

For me, that country was Venezuela. My wife and I only spent one day in Caracas but that was enough for me.

The city was incredibly dirty with drunks lying around everywhere. The air was filled with smoke from trash piles burning on the hills in the surrounding ghettos.

Police officers with automatic guns where everywhere, trying to ensure the safety of the tourists I suppose.

I'm sure there are good people and nice places in Venezuela, but my one-time visit was enough for me.

What was the worst country you ever visited?

Actually there was a cool volcano I climbed but the city of San Salvador was a shithole.

My hotel room was dingy and when I went to bed and switched off the light a minute later I heard this muffled crackling noise. I turned the light on and it was the legs of thousands of gigantic cockroaches running all over the walls and ceiling.

I went out to speak to el jeffe and the guy was drunk and having sex with a prostitute on the floor of the hotel lobby beside the desk. He sprayed the room then I poured a track of bug powder round the edge of the mattress before stepping inside the rectangle to try and sleep.

I went for a beer next day and a guy at the bar was sitting playing with a pistol. Loading and unloading the chambers.

El Salvador rocks! Best airline I've ever been on as well. I think it's called Taca.

China is probably the worst I've been to. So Korea ain't so great either.

It was a long time ago. All I remember is the cockroaches and the volcano.

Burma. As boring as fuck.

Tunisia was my first thought not that I have many to judge it by.

Shitty place left after three days of a two week holiday!

Damn, you Europeanish dudes have a lot more opportunity to get around then we Yanks. We have Mexico and Canada. I've never even been close to Europe or Africa.

Toss-up between Yemen and Angola.

Both were for work and neither country would ever be on my holiday list. Both had dusty, shitty broken cities and not very appealing locals. Personal security is an issue if you are of pasty complexion.

Sierra Leone.

Thought the hoo-doo, Voo Doo Vibe was bad in the Dominican Republic (a diving trip) but Sierra Leone is real spooky.

From what I hear not dissimilar to Pattaya

India was prety bad because poor people live on the edge of railway tracks and crap on or near the tracks (a fair few are killed by trains every year). If you're traveling by rail and feeling queasy from a stomach bug, the ever-present smell, in or near stations and cities, is stomach-turning.

Papua New Guinea wins hands down for me , Port Morseby would have to be the dirtiest, smelliest place place I have been to.

Luxembourg.

Place is full of dead people.

My dad took me when i was a kid to look at the war graves.

The places gave me nightmares for years.

Senegal.

I was working on a ship and some local mob opened fire on us as the boat was leaving, we could hear bullets pinging off the hull.

Australia - just very vanilla and a complete let down.

It's clean, well organised, generally safe and hygenic.
Maybe you also didn't travel much in Australia.
